OOOh cheers for that. I rarely use the railway but this is great info. Now to get a priv from TVMs.....
It can be done, there just isn't the will to do it. Getting fed up with being forced to use ticket offices to get the discount. I was delayed the other day because the clerk at the window did not know how to issue a point to point ticket, then there are the guards who keep telling me to buy a ticket from the TVM when I show my Priv and ask to buy a ticket from them before boarding their train
I don't understand why 75% discounted tickets can't be bought from TVM's or online. Like most other discounted tickets they are not valid without the relevant facility (e.g. Railcard) so why the issue?
Through my own TOCs's website I can buy tickets for family and friends and have a staff applied. I simply have an extra step at log-in to achieve this, and it proves that applying a Priv discount should be possible without too much additional work. I sometimes think that the industry sees its own staff as those most likely to misuse tickets (and passes). The closest we could get is a secure website linked to your personal PRIV online that you could then pick tickets up from a TVM.
