Someone mentioned about these in the thread about disused stations and Mojo said to start a new thread.

So are there any left or have they all been replaced. I thought that the first line to have them was the Northern line follwed by the Victoria line.

The majority of the District and Piccadilly lines are still operated by Programme Machines, largely as described in the article linked elsewhere albeit most now with a digital element in place of punch rolls. Those on the District will slowly be removed over the next few years as part of the ongoing resignalling of the Sub-Surface, with those on the Piccadilly following from around 2030 (current estimates).

Although still extant, the Programme Machine at Watford has been defective for a couple of years now - not to be replaced - and all control of Watford station is via the push buttons in Rickmansworth cabin.

The Northern and Jubilee lines still have digital program machines, which can be set by the Signaller to NOOT, FCFS or Normal.

(NOOT - No Out Of Turns. FCFS - First Come First Served).

Does that function actually work now?!

Yes.... just not very well.

FCFS is used fairly often at Finchley junction (SB), and NOOT occasionally at Kennington (SB). I wouldn’t risk using it in the Camden area though!
