I’d imagine they’d be pretty well suited to Liverpool from Chester - Not many stops, better capacity than 1 x 150 and with the busiest stations at the end of the route which won’t impact dwell time as much!

I imagine they would be a bit less suitable to Manchester Airport in normal practice but with England locked down and reduced flights coming in, usage will be much quieter than normal anyway.

It's booked for a 175/0, at least during the week

Currently en route from Store at Ely Papworth Sidings to Canton, EMR 153372 and 153382

www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K00227/2020-11-05/detailed

They are both ex GWR prior to transfer to EMR. There was a hint in Post #691
With these being Angel trains are they likely to be a more permanent addition? And get the whole PRM refurb and paint job?

There's a list on Class 153 Wiki (not always accurate i know) that shows current and pending operators
According to this 372 and 382 already being delivered, with 334, 354, 364, 365, 371 and 375 pending delivery as ex WMR. If this is the case it will pick up the slack of the Pacers. All of those listed above have PRM derogation from the DfT for Northern and WMR respectively. Is the derogation transferable?
It would take several months to get them all refitted and if there's no plan to get them refitted and extend derogation then the Pacers might as well stay!

However according to the DfT derogation attached (dated May 2020), 372 and 382 have been with Northern, with 373 and 380 with Scotrail and 355 & 375 with EMR, but all showing Northern on the derogation.

Any news on the 2 that failed en route from the Midlands?

I notice that 372 and 382 which moved during the week are Angel units. These cannot be connected with the 9 which came earlier from EMR and GA and which are Porterbrook units. These 9 were were offered by Porterbrook to TFW to compensate for the delays with the 769s., that project being managed by Porterbrook.

The EMR 153s are so comfy and much nicer to travel in that any other 153 - including the PRM ones!

Watch this space. No info on Numbers or how many but presume WMR 153s transferring to add to the Canton population of 153s which were 24 at the last count.

Now cancelled (Reason not investigated)

Presumably all these extra 153s for TfW are to help with Pacer withdrawal by the end of the year?
Still can't see how it'll help eliminate Pacers on the lines through Pontypridd though, unless enough 150s will be released from elsewhere in Wales by these extra 153s to allow 4 car 150 workings through Pontypridd come January

There are some 150s working into West Wales which can be replaced by pairs of 153s.

Welsh 153s are not that bad. Chester to Crewe is quite a pleasant run, helped by the fact that there are no intermediate stops!

What is currently running through Pontypridd? If I recall correctly, pre-COVID it was mainly single 150s and double Pacers. A double Pacer I believe is a similar length (60m) to a 3-car 150. Now, I know TfW don't have 3-car 150s at the moment, but if they don't have enough to run 4-car formations and a 2-car is insufficient capacity then perhaps hybrid 3-car 150s could be the answer. Complicated of course by the fact they now have huge PRM toilets, meaning half the hybrid units would have many more seats than the other half.

TFW are running Single (If short) or Double 150s or Pacer +150. Double Pacers are now Taboo as described elsewhere on the Forum.

5Zxx code would fit with that, if it was just a loco then it would be a 0 code. Be interesting to see what it is.
