Interesting
Presumably something, somewhere has changed as it certainly wasnt allowed before. But certainly the CF58x diagrams were for the /9s and that diagram is one.
Seems a logical step for such a short route IMO as its probably a unit which otherwise couldn't be used, theres a single PRM 153 on 3 Heart of Wales/Crewe diagrams which renders 3 /9s a day that cant be used otherwise.

Is there a Class 158 unit due to swap at Crewe for refurbishment this week?

158 837 has been there a month from looking back through the thread.

I have closely read through the dispensation letters again and, in the case of TFW only, they can just carry on as before (until 31 December) with no operating restrictions. The only caveats which are shown and refer to disabilties-

The existing level of accessibility standards compliance is maintained; c. Information on non-compliant features of vehicles and alternative travel options is readily available to passengers to assist with informed journey planning. d. Transport for Wales Rail Limited will continue to carry out the measures that it has undertaken to assist customers with reduced mobility where and when the Class 153 units are in operation.

As mentioned already and not in the public domain, , TFW have their own conditions also and here they probably specify coupling to compliant units but that they can work singly over certain routes only and based on time/distance.

I've always thought that there was no need for a fully PRM'd 153 with a Universal Accessible Toilet to run on short routes on the Valleys. Ideally the refurbished PRM-light 153s are the best ones to put on Coryton - Cardiff Bay and on the City line, Radyr to Central. These routes certainly do not need trains with toilets, there are bus routes in Cardiff that are much slower and take much longer than the journey times of these two rail routes.

There are some bus routes in Cardiff, and to/from the Valleys to Cardiff that take just as long as the current journey times from the heads of the Valleys to Cardiff by train. The issue of toilets on trains in the Valleys is massively overblown imo.

If anybody noticed a 5T05 from Chester to Widnes this morning it was 175105 which was not refurbish/livery trip (done) but the aftermath of a tree walking out in front of it at Pontyclun last week..

I like 150283 will be good to see it in TFw livery

Looking at RTT appears to be a path on Friday 29 October from Chester to Widnes Transport Tech and back again. I guess this is going to be 175110 coming off from refurbishment, do we know which one of 175112 or 175114 will be next in?

Anyone got an update on which 153s are currently at Landore, nothing on this thread for over a month now

I was curious about this too. 935 hasn't shown up on RTT whenever I've searched for it lately, so that could be there. 909 doesn't appear normally either, as it's ex-Anglia maybe it's getting works on it?

913 was in, but is back out now. 935 went in on 17th Sept and they having been taking about six weeks. It is not allocated today, so presume it's still there.

That leaves 914 to do. 914 isn't out today so it may be there now.

I don't think the final four TFW Owned ones have started going in yet. (918, 968, 972 and 982)

909 has already been done. Was in between 16/06-29/07

Thanks. 968 is definitely not in, I had it today with 303. 972 was showing as on the 1101 Swansea to Fishguard and 1250 to Cardiff when I looked just after 11am.

Thanks for your comments, 914 shouldn’t be out. Iirc, it’s dispensation ran out at the end of last month. The other 4 have dispensation until the end of this year.

It must be 914 that has replaced 913 as the extra four have all been about today or very recently. 935 will be the next one to be finished, 909 was the fourth to be done and has been about for a while.

913 and 914 are both in the same group whose dispensation is both on the same letter dated 27 May and expires on 31 December 2021

I believe 2 will stay as /9s and have the same work as the other lite units and 2 will get the full works and go back to /3s
