Hitachi has announced an 807 is the 300th train for UK
started with Javelins, includes Scotland EMUs and IETs

Hitachi Rail has delivered its 300th train for UK passengers with the latest Class 807 for Avanti West Coast.

This unit was delivered as part of Hitachi’s contribution to modernising UK rolling stock, which began with the introduction of the Class 395 Javelin in 2009.

805 002 in Lancaster platform 3 today around 14:45. Lights set to head south, though it didn't look as if anything was imminent.
As far as I could see, no one on board

First one I've seen in Lancaster

No, it was P3
I thought I'd changed the typo before anyone saw it. Phone keyboards are useless!
Glad I'm not the only one that struggles , the joy of phones.

I did see 805002 pass through Stafford on Wednesday night. I know there is probably a good reason, but why is it still unliveried & not in service like quite a few the others?

Just from base observations (and a somewhat issueous journey on 805012) they are rolling out quite well, they do make a statement on the WCML.

As a regular passenger they are an inferior experience to the Voyagers that they have replaced.
Seating, heating, ride quality, equipment reliability (shop/galley/toilets), in some seating positions a wall not a window, and overall noise in saloon all a step back - I know Voyagers have the engine background noise but you shut that out subconsciously.
Prefer a Pendolino over a Voyager though…

Agreed, definitely. Well, I’m on the fence with the seating (in 2nd, it’s trash in first) because I do like that, but the clinical lighting, the drab boring 80x interior, the eyesore LCD scrolling PIS and announcement earache is really dire.

Again, agreed, definitely.

At the risk of going off topic, I much prefer the interior of the Avanti Super Voyagers to their Pendolinos, because of the far bigger windows on the former. Having said that, I think the Pendolinos have benefited from their refurbishment, I think the new Standard seats are far better than the original ones.

Tbh that's the good thing about opinions they can differ, although all 3 classes are certainly impactfull and I know when travelling with my wheelchair using friend (and as a more regular wheelchair user in the future) I will certainly prefer the 805/7 as I can guarantee a forward facing seat nearby. I do think the voyager refurb helped them in their final stint with the operator,

I don't think we have one, so I've created a new thread for discussion of views and experiences of the Avanti 80x so this thread isn't cluttered up with this:

And any news on when 807s will enter public service?

It has been reported that Avanti's plan to run the second Liverpool service per hour would require bi-mode trains as the power supply between Crewe and Weaver Junction was not able to cope with the electrical demand pending some sort of upgrade. The upgrade I understand was planned but never implemented yet. There doesn't seem to be any concrete news on when that will take place.
So for now, with most of the 805's spoken for for Holyhead services, it seems the 807's are to be used on Euston to Birmingham once they are introduced and accepted.
In Septembers TfN meeting minutes there was a letter from NR in respect of WCML performance but also including this paragraph about infrastructure constraints.

Certainly suggests that 807's may have to run on diesel over part of the route to Liverpool.

Is there not a feeder stn at Edge Hill as well?

The Liverpool, feeder is at Speke not Edge Hill , there is a Track Sectioning location at Wavertree

Thanks for clarity and as its not mentioned in the letter then presumably its the Crewe area that is the limiting factor for an extra Liverpool although whether that is under an outage condition or normal running isn't explained.

807s can't run on diesel as they have no engines. They could use 805s instead though. I think I read somewhere (upthread?) that that may be the case.
But that could seriously affect the Holyhead to London services.

Looks like Avanti will have to forget about the second hourly Liverpool to London services for now.

There are enough units to operate the service that is operating now plus have some spare for something else e.g. Liverpool peak extras. It's not ideal but it's possible, and I'm fairly sure it's what was under consideration in the interim.

There's no Shrewsbury service to resource, and the Blackpool 805 could go EMU.
Arguably there are also now too many 10-car sets on the coast, probably not wanting joining problems at Chester/Crewe,

There is only one two car 805 west of Chester which operates 1D80 ++ 1A26+ 1D91

There is also one double Voyager working from Euston to Holyhead and back forming the morning "Boat Train" from London.

I doubt that reducing the existing doubles to singles would release more than a single 805 for Liverpool.

I suspect that Avanti would want to have a resolution to the speed limit concerns that ORR have before expanding Liverpool services.
