I doubt that reducing the existing doubles to singles would release more than a single 805 for Liverpool.

There are spare 805s anyway once the whole fleet has arrived, because the present North Wales/Chester service is significantly reduced from the hourly service to Chester that operated pre COVID and for which the units were ordered.

Looking at the December timetable there is an hourly service from Euston between 09.00 and 20.00 with one gap at 16.00, I would hardly call that significantly reduced.

16:00 seems like an odd service to miss? has it every run historically?
Ironically the old 1610 Euston-Holyhead (Voyager) was the one return service from London that was banned for off-peak tickets to North Wales.
For most of its life it ran to Bangor as I recall, more recently being extended to Holyhead.

006,007 were testing on wcml last year
Yes 006 and 007 weee testing earlier this year as well, but they are back at the factory.

002 has worked one service in passenger use, but now remains as a test/training unit.

Any news on when the Avanti 80x fleet will be in passenger service on workings through Preston?

when 002 was in service?never seen it in use and is not even in avanti livery

Correct still plain grey, I’m 99% certain it has worked 1 maybe 2 max passenger services. Am sure I’ve seen pictures of it , but can not for life of me find them now.

Will 805002 return to Newton Aycliffe for branding?
They normally do. Although the company that do the vinyls can and do travel to depots to do it.
Suppose it all depends on shed space at Oxley, or whether 002 needs any extra work doing at Hitachi’s Factory.

805002 hasn't worked any passenger services. But has been on the back of Empty moves which have split before forming passenger services.

Is the driver allowed to switch it off and back on again with people on board?
They tried this but it didn't fix it, so the service was cancelled and we were turfed out to take our chances with TfW.
Didn't work out so bad, I finished the journey on a 67/Mk4 and should get some Delay Repay.

This afternoon's 1A50 12:48 Holyhead to London Euston (805011/805013) been delayed since Stafford and south of Stafford due to a door fault. Currently 53 late at Ledburn Junction.

Reading the latest issue of Rail Express and it states ‘The seven car EMU (807) were ordered for the Euston to Liverpool Line Street route, while they will operate on that routes the planned two trains per hour between the cities has been shelved’.
