Also the HS2 trains ware dealing with the high capacity city to city routes. The 80Xs were for the semi fast services that would remain on the existing WCML to serve the intermediate locations.
Just wondering if using the 7 car 807 would enable Avanti to introduce stops at Poulton-le-Fylde and or Kirkham and Wesham. These platforms take the 6 car 331's at present. It would be a good move for Avanti as it would help develop the all year market on the Blackpool line. (Presently the 390's have to run direct Preston to Blackpool North. I suspect there would be enough time to make the stops if the trains fit the platforms). Can anybody shed any light on this?

I saw a video clip of an unliveried 807 stopping at PFY on a test run although you couldn’t see it along the whole of the platform. It might be a touch too long although does it have SDO? Likewise, I’m keen to know if they intend to service PFY.

Blackpool was meant to have some 805s in the original Avanti plans with the 807s only for Liverpool and West Midlands. ( The early morning service to Euston is part of a North Wales diagram.) Pendolinos were still to run to Blackpool.

I would doubt that AWC would introduce a new service that was dependent on 807s to Blackpool given that there will only be a small number of 807s.

0755 to Euston (started at Chester) is cancelled at Crewe this morning due to a train fault. Double 805 set. Lots of unhappy passengers waiting for the 0823 to Euston now.

Poulton's platforms are 162/170m (P1/2), and Kirkham's are 183/198m (P2/3).
So that equates to 6x26m at Poulton, and 7x26m at Kirkham.

RTT shows the 0548 from HHD didn't get past Bangor, and (probably not coincidentally) there is also a 5R25 0755 ECS Crewe to Euston, but no sign of how that stock arrived in Crewe apart from an ECS which should have gone to Chester. Not a very happy day for yet more passengers...

807006 is out this morning in passenger service is this the first time?
+
And 807008 scheduled to work 1P94 17:05 Euston to Blackpool. Is this another first passenger run?
From my daily checks I believe this is the first day for both 807006 and 807008.

I did originally think Thursday the twelfth was expected for 807008 !.

Isn't that a long way to go ECS unless it is booked for a service to Euston in the morning?

It's quite normal for trains to work ECS back to their home depot.
The former 221 service worked ECS back to Crewe (and back to Blackpool to form the morning Up service).
221s also worked ECS regularly from Central Rivers-Chester and back.
Some EMR 158s start their day by running ECS Nottingham-Liverpool.

I didn't realise that trains travelled such distances ECS, don't want to derail a great thread but very interesting all the same.

It can't be platformed at Liverpool South Parkway. Maximum vehicle length is 5 x 23m, certainly not 5 or indeed 7 x 26m.
I presume the 807s have some sort of (A)SDO similar to the other Hitachi units (GWR) which will allow them to call at South Parkway with the rear of the train hanging off the rear of the platform.

Flint was added to the Avanti timetable in June on the basis that double 805s could use SDO. Ironically this has resulted in the last few coaches on double Voyagers to Holyhead being locked out at Chester.

No longer an issue from Monday

I see at least a trio of 807s are out this morning looking at Euston with 807008 on the 9G08 0816 London Euston to Birmingham New Street, 807001 on the 1F14 0843 London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street & 807002 on the 1B25 0721 Birmingham New Street to London Euston.

Good to see the 7 coach units getting used at weekends, replacing the 5 coach services which I suspect would be busy on the West Midlands corridor

Slightly confused as to whether the 07:43 Euston-Liverpool tomorrow is an 805/807 (have seen reference to this being one of their workings) or a Pendolino (which is the seat map showing when you try to book on the Avanti website). My main concern is the Standard Premium seat reservation I have is in Standard on an 807.

With the timetable change I think it's reverted back to a Pendolino

Does anyone know why 805001 has been at North Pole depot this week?
Maybe Avanti are going to run boat trains from Euston to the "New Holyhead(s)" to deal with the Christmas surge in passengers to Ireland.;)

( The jetty at Holyhead suffered damage during Storm Darragh. No ferries can dock and it's not expected to return to service until the new year. Stena have one ferry running Dublin - Fishguard and one running Dublin - Birkenhead ( freight only). Irish Ferries have relocated one of bigger ferries from Dublin - Holyhead to replace the smaller ferry on the Rosslare - Pembroke Dock route.)
