Which gets us back to the question...is the power supply upgrade work planned? And when? If not the 807's look like they will primarily be used on xx:16 Euston to Birmingham semi - fast for the foreseeable future.
Wasn't it deferred when Crewe was going to be completely rebuilt under HS2 as that would have dealt with it?

5Q32 Merchant Park to Oxley past through Melton Mowbray with a white 805006.
Cheers, Fadster.

The short forming also caused Avanti to remove Seatfrog on a couple of the alternative services from Crewe/Stafford, anticipating busy trains.

Which makes total sense as the ‘cheap’ upgrades are only there to fill premium seats which would otherwise be empty.

69011 is due to haul 807001 from Merchant Park to Darlington as 5Q20 this evening, then detach, and 807 will start its mainline test continuing to York.

Will these trains ever make it to Glasgow? The Pendolinos are my least favourites by a country mile, would be great to eventually have something else on this route.

Definitely not in service, especially not any time soon.
They're not planned to go any further North than Preston/Blackpool with passengers.

So essentially a 7 coach 803?
No, as a 803 has a larger battery to provide static power to the train in the event of issues.

I believe an 807 has a standard battery which would lose power quickly in OHl is failed.

Seems the first one off Birmingham to Holyhead is cancelled or partially cancelled more than it makes it through. Not the most reliable when it's a train that connects with a ferry to Ireland. In the last 5 days it's only made it to Holyhead twice, neither of which were on time.

Give them time to bed in...

The Voyager runs on the North Wales Coast are subject to frequent cancellations too, so it's not unique to the IET.

Today this service only ran Birmingham-Crewe (with 805 003), and then on to Euston 4.5 hours later.
The explanation on RTT was "an issue with the train crew".
If Avanti can't find trained 80x crew, you'd think a Voyager would be turned out instead.
The 1248 Holyhead-Euston was also cancelled.
Avanti don't deserve more time for them to bed in - the service should run or be substituted, which is what TfW try to do with the Mk4s on the same line.

Was it no 80x train crew, or no crews in general ie can not substitute a 221?

Lots of Avanti cancellations this weekend due to lack of crew.

Northern are warning of severe disruption on ‘X’ this weekend too for similar reasons.

Holyhead always seems to get the short end of the stick with cancellations anyway, having only a few staff trained on the new ones must make it even worse

Anything to do with some warm weather, the euro’s starting and Fathers Day on Sunday

Possibly. Who wants to work extra when there are better things to do in life? Ironically I’m working a buckshee Sunday this week :p
Presumably also if staff are still being trained on Averos then that reduces the pool of staff available to staff trains.

There also seem to have been some infrastructure issues west of Bangor with a number of trains cancelled/severely delayed due to "Points Failure" or Signalling issues over the last week.

Is there any intention to run extra services to Preston/Blackpool? The Glasgow trains can be extremely busy as far as Preston/Lancaster, an extra hourly service to Preston would perhaps make sense if there is a path and enough rolling stock. Could even pick up the Warrington/Wigan stops to speed the Glasgow services up a bit.

I believe the intention is for 807s to cover some of the services that currently terminate at Blackpool.
Personally I'd rather the Fast train not skip Wigan :)

Avanti have bid for most of the remaining Blackpool west mids terminators (might be all) to be reinstated to run through to Glasgow as per pre Covid from (if I remember correctly) may 2025. Along with this is 2 additional Blackpool services throughout the day via the Trent valley which are to be operated by 390s. At present the only planned services from Blackpool using 2x 805s are the early morning 0535 departure from Blackpool and the soon to be reinstated 1705 Euston to Blackpool, using 1x 805 set.

I noticed that the PIS on 805s (although possibly this was the case on Voyagers as well) announce ‘Bangor’ in English but ‘Bangor (Gwynedd)’ in Welsh. If it needs to be clarified which Bangor the train is calling at, surely it’s the English announcement which would need it more? (Personally I don’t think it’s necessary to add the county in either language but especially not in Welsh.)

It's the same on TfW's 197s, oddly.
