Most (if not all) SBB ticket machines have a half price option. Is it OK to purchase a half price ticket from one of these machines for use with an FIP card?

Yes, I think it might even be a little cheaper than buying it from the ticket office and don't forget to show your FIP card along with the ticket during ticket checks.

All Swiss ticket machines offer half price and that's fine for FIP purchases. But obviously be aware that the FIP 50% facility can't be used on Postbuses, local trams etc.

There's no price difference between ticket office and ticket machines.
