anybody an idea, what locomotive this could be?
What is that emblem on the tank? Pic most probably taken at the beginning of the 1880s.

The emblem might be that of the North Staffordshire Railway.

This is not my area, but could it be a NSR Class B tank?

Looks similar to a Knotty Class B but there are detail differences.

No, this are the water tanks.

Community, thanks for the support. North Staffordshire Railway was a good hint, since there are more NSR engine in the collection. I think it is a B Class engine built by the Stoke Works built between 1881 and 1895.

Apart from the cab front seems to match

According to this source, the cabs have been rebuilt.

What looks suspiciously like condensing gear is the large bore straight pipe from the smokebox back to the top centre of the water tank, visible in both the original picture and the linked image of the model. I wasn't aware the North Stafford needed condensing, which is normally confined to specialist situations, but this certainly looks like it.

Didn't condensing pipes run into the side tanks though?
Feed water heater? or was that something different?

I think it unlikely anyone would put a feed water heater on a 2-4-0T.
