Question: Are 465s Similar To Electrostars Or Junipers?

Also, talking about 465s, since some were built at Washwood Heath, do they share any similarities with Coradias/Junipers?

None whatsoever as far as I know, but the Washwood Heath Networkers were quite different from the BREL ones. The bodyshells are visibly different (mainly the shape of the windows) and the traction equipment wasn't the same either.

Networkers were a BR specification with variations built by BREL and GEC. the blueprints of the BREL design were transferred from BREL to ABB, then adtranz and eventually Bombardier through subsequent takeovers. The electrostar and turbostar fleets were adtranz products although mostly built by bombardier and essentially updates and developments of the networker (465, 466 and unbuilt 471) and the network turbos (165, 166) you can see the obvious link in the 168 clubmans.

However the Stars did adopt a totally new bodyshell construction method, bolting the floors walls and roofs together where everything was welded aluminium on the Networkers. The Networker-like end on the early 168s is a red herring as the resemblance is cosmetic only - at the time Adtranz planned to offer the units with bespoke front ends for different operators.

The Royal Mail 325s also have a Networker like end, despite being unrelated!

Yes, the 325s are basically 319s minus windows and sliding doors and with a few other tweaks.

Apparently they were designed to be fairly easily convertible to passenger use, but window alignment on most mark 3 EMUs is so bad you probably wouldn't need to do much. :)

Give them to Northern Rail, they need some more stock. Cut a peep hole in the side so people can see out :E
