R179 removed from service for the second time in a row

The R179s have been pulled from service for the second time in a row due to a train de-coupling while in service on the (A) line at Chambers Street station. The entire fleet has been pulled out of service until further notice. The MTA released a statement saying that each and every R179 train car will be inspected and that what happened is unacceptable.

The issues with the R179 cars, which serve the A, C, J and Z lines, also arise on the cusp of New York City’s anticipated Phase 1 of reopening on June 8th.

Nothing final as of yet on that end. Right now though, a few R160s are running on the (C) line to fill in for service. As for the R32s, we'll have to wait and see on Monday; Monday is when New York City begins Phase One post-lockdown and on top of that the MTA has stated they will be running regular scheduled service (already today, the (6) and (7) lines have their express trains restored).

I known of Subchat for a long time. It was one of the most popular websites for NYC railfans to gather online back in the day, a small chunk of people still post there.

Major update: The R32 will return to service on the (J) and (Z) lines when phase one re-opening of NYC begins this Monday. Also, the (A) line is getting a few R160s to fill in for service (surprisingly enough).
