Revamped rail coaches which have had more seats installed could give passengers deep vein thrombosis (DVT), campaigners have claimed.
First Great Western (FGW) has refurbished old coaches in a bid to give them a longer life, make them safer and allow them to carry more passengers.
Westcountry rail campaigners claim the move is in response to pressures to provide more seats for the busy section of route between Paddington and Reading.
But they say the attempt to squeeze in more passengers could leave travellers on a journey lasting three hours or more at increased risk of DVT.
