Nice pics Csalem, must be a long time since an Enterprise 201 worked on the DSER, especially south of Pearse. Though I do remember them on occasion working the Ammonia trains from Shelton. Never had the mindset to get a photo of them though, at the time I thought they'd be there forever... :(

Hi all,
Spent the day on the DART system in Dublin chasing the new advertising units. Managed to get the all-over Emirates set in Howth, and the smaller ads for Belfast and Puss in Boots(my personal favourite!) in Dublin. Other locations include Bray, Dun Laoghaire and Clontarf Road and include other units, such as the 22000 test run to Drogheda. Pictures here:

Hi all,
Just a few shots to end the year. Popped up north yesterday and got two C4k sets, a C3k and one Castle Class. It was probably my final trip on the latter.

And then a final shot for the year today with 073 on the Tara during some 'soft' weather. What better way to end the year?!

Pictures at the link below:
http://transportsceneireland.smugmu...ember-2011/20432996_DBds4S#1651968061_rQ8gLFw

Would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who visited the site over the year to look at the pictures and to wish you all a Happy New Year!

Hi all,
The final update for this week and I promise I won't photograph the IWT liner so many times in one week again! Today's shots show 209 on the morning departure from Dublin and 206 on the afternoon arrival, both locomotives in theory belonging to the Enterprise cross-border services. However, today the liners were the best place to see the Enterprise locos as in the afternoon, two of the three Enterprise sets failed and were replaced by NIR C3k units. Included is a shot of 3003 in Connolly. Finally there are some shots of 073 and 086 on the two Taras.
Taken together, today's efforts show all four freight sets operating into and out of Dublin. Pictures start here:

Hi all,
Just a small update from this morning. A six-piece 2800 set failed in Balbriggan on the Northern Line this morning. This resulted in forty minute delays for commuters heading into Dublin. It also meant the return of a loco-hauled train stopping in Balbriggan to pick up passengers as the 07:35 Dublin to Belfast Central performed a commuter service from Skerries to Drogheda as well as its intercity duties. Pictures here:

Hi all,
Last September ICR set 22033 experienced a fire while operating from Galway. Today the set was hauled from the ICR depot in Laois to Inchicore Works by 076, and I managed to get a shot of it just east of Adamstown. Also today managed a few pics of 209 and 079 on the IWT liners, 201s on Mark IV sets, 22000s in operation under their own power and two cats! Pictures at the link below:

Hi all,
Popped out from college today at lunchtime to catch the Ballina to North Wall IWT liner which was hauled by 207. Yesterday was the first day this Enterprise loco hauled the IWT from Dublin to Ballina, and today was its first time doing the return journey. So far this month 206, 207 and 209 have hauled the IWT liner, even though all four were bought and painted to haul the Belfast to Dublin Enterprise service! Indeed, 209 did the outbound working today. Picture of 207 is below, along with three other shots from Drumcondra:

Hi all,
Yesterday was the 25th birthday of Irish Rail so I popped out to photo some of the passenger operations around the city. Things are definitely different now compared to 1987! Shots include the usual DMUS, DARTs, and Mark 4 sets. Of particular note is DART set 8601 on a test run. This unit has not been in passenger service for over a year. Pictures here:

Hi all,
With the recent announcement that the 2700 Class DMUs are due to be withdrawn by the summer I decided to do my own farewell tour with them, taking in all the lines they are utilised on over a four day period last week. On the first day I got the most southerly 2700 in Ireland, 2716, which operates with 2609 in Cork. On the second day it was the most easterly reach of the 2700, Waterford, but went via Athenry and Limerick. On the third day it was the westerly range of the 2700s, taking in Nenagh, Limerick and Galway. And finally the fourth day was the most northerly line for a 2700, the Ballina branch.
Pictures of the 2700s seen at those locations, and others, over the four days are now online at the link below:

Hi all,
Part two of last week's trip is now online and these contain the non-2700 shots. Highlights include 071 in Limerick Junction, 072 on the laden timber in Westport, 076 with the Sperry Wagon in both Mallow and Limerick Junction, 081 shunting a collection of wagons in Limerick, and 226 in Ballina with the IWT liner.

Also a variety of DMUs present such as two 22000s on the Kerry Road in Rathmore, 2600s around Cork, and the newly arrived 2800 in Limerick.

Hi all,
Over the weekend of 24/25 March the RPSI ran the 'Spare-Link' tour, which operated from Dublin to M3 Parkway to Wexford on the Saturday, and from Wexford to Howth and back to Dublin on the Sunday. Steam loco 461 hauled the Craven set over the two days and was the first visit of a steam locomotive to the Howth branch in many years. Furthermore, GM 217 hauled the tour back from Howth to Connolly, making it the second 201 to visit the Howth branch.

Pictures from the weekend are now online featuring the following locations: Dublin Connolly, M3 Parkway, Dunboyne, Hansfield, Killiney, Kilcoole, Howth and Clontarf Road. Pictures can be found here:

Hi all,
I have uploaded some pictures taken yesterday and today. From yesterday there is a shot of a 22000 in Balbriggan and a 29000 in Skerries. Today has some more interesting shots. I started the day in Drumcondra to see 221 on the IWT liner. I then moved to North Wall which had three 071s: 080 on the Autoballasters, 081 on the Tara and 086 on the Long-Welded Rail train. To finish the day there are some shots from Balbriggan of the now 22000-operated 13:30 Dublin Pearse to Drogheda. Pictures start at the link below and continue on to the following page:

Hi all,
As there was some nice sun today, I decided to pop out and record the early afternoon activity in Balbriggan and photograph the new status quo. Gone are the 2800s which provided variety for the last few years and in their place have arrived the 22000s on both passenger and empty workings. Also got the ever present 29000s, as well as the loco-hauled Enterprises and Taras. Pictures here:

Hi all,
Spent yesterday chasing the RPSI's 461 around parts of west Dublin on the steam specials. Managed to get it at Ashtown, Dublin Connolly, Grand Canal Dock, Dunboyne, and finally at Clonsilla:

And as this shot of a DART shows, the weather was not all sun and blue skies yesterday:

This shot of 230 probably sums up the day, sun and rain!

Hi all,
The RPSI ran another one of their 'Dublin Shuttles' today and although I may be biased, I'm glad to say it took in the former GNRI route to Drogheda. It also ran a second shuttle service from Drogheda to Skerries to Drogheda before returning back to Dublin. 461 and the Cravens were used throughout. I managed to get shots of it at the following locations.

Malahide:

Skerries:

And of course in Balbriggan:

079 was there with the Sperry train. Problems on the Northern Line delayed its departure:

It also seems timely to photograph the stored Mark 3s as the tender for their disposal closed two days ago. How long they have left to live is unknown, but probably not too long:
