Hi all

I'm hoping someone can help me please.

When I try to drive the Class 68 on Rail Simulator, I'm unable to start the engine or get any movement.

When I put the key into the cab, the AWS makes a noise but doesn't self test. I'm unable to start the engine and even with the key in it doesn't do anything.

Thanks.

If the AWS is making a noise, you need to cancel it through pressing the Q key. The engine should already be on when you start?

The engine isn't on for some reason. The AWS doesn't self test.

By 'self test', what do you mean exactly? I always took the self test to mean the AWS horn sounded and was cancelled by the player. The engine can be turned on by pressing Z.

Yes that's what I mean. When I put the key in, the AWS doesn't do the self test.

Nothing happens when I press Z or the in cab buttons.

The only thing I can recommend is uninstalling and reinstalling the 68 then; either that or try a different scenario?

This may sound like a daft thing to say, but have you read the manual for the class 68? (pdf).
Some locos can be a real pain to get going if you don't know what to do.

The DTG Class 68 seems to be quite a detailed engine by their standards but the manual is still as basic as any other engine they've made. I had a quick look through it yesterday and couldn't immediately see anything. Link.

Thank you Gentlemen. I'll reinstall the loco to see if that solves the problem. I had a look at the manual before posting on here.

Strangely I had been able to drive the 68 without any problems a couple of months ago. I don't know what has changed.

Train Sim is a strange thing which seems to do what it wants when it wants. Reinstalling things seems to be the best way of fixing them.

Let us know if there are any more issues.

It certainly is.

Thank you!

I'll probably reinstall the class 68 this afternoon and see if it makes any difference.

Have you turned the DRA off by pressing ‘Y’? It can be quite hard to tell if it’s on or not in the 68, and if it’s on, the loco won’t take power.

Yep I've tried the dra although I did notice the red warning light on left hand side of the 68 cab had a warning light about the DRA on it.

So I’m assuming you’re using the default 68 and not the AP one?
You’ve checked handbrake released, loco and train brake released, master key is on and train is in forward?

I don't own this DLC but if the manual is unclear, I usually find YouTube is a good place to find how to drive videos.

I've just read the manual, you are right there is not much in it!
Out of curiosity, is this a download via Steam or a manual installer?
Oh, and you have you tried clearing the cache?

Sorry I've just seen the replies.

I bought the 68 and downloaded on Steam.

I've tried clearing the cache.
