Evening all!

I'll be procuring a railcard tomorrow lunchtime after travelling into London by coach - my day will start at an LU station in no close proximity to a National Rail office.

If I were to load my railcard onto my Oyster after using it for a non-discounted PAYG journey - which cap will apply? The discounted, or the non-discounted?

Your advice appreciated.

Best wishes,

TP

You should be able to get the railcard discount loaded at the LU station where you start from, either from the ticket office (if it still exists) or by getting a staff member to do it using the ticket machines.

I would do that - however I won't physically have the railcard until such time as I reach the first National Rail ticket office of the day. (Previous railcard has expired.) This would be after the first PAYG journey… as I need to use Oyster to reach a NR station!

The railcard discounted cap will apply once the railcard has been added. If you have already exceeded that cap before adding the railcard then it will stop charging, but you won't get the excess back. So get the railcard added as soon as possible.
