I like the way that it's being hauled as part of a freight train rather than on its own as one would have expected from the description.

It's not, those wagons are there for brake force as the 395 would be unbraked.

Nice shot, I shot it down the road at Colton, must have slowed up as it was about 7 early at Colton.

Was it busy at Copmanthorpe? I don't even know where that spot is! Would you mind giving me some details?

Thanks! No just me and 2 others. The shot is a path crossing near Farmers Way, don't know how to explain where it is best, Google Maps is your best bet in finding the place, I'm useless at directions. I believe the foot crossing however does form part of the Ebor Way.

How busy was Colton Junction?

Sorry, I should have said, the wagons were barriers and were used as brake force for the 395.

Very busy, about 15 cars, maybe 20 people. I was the only one on the other side of the bridge though, all the others will have taken roughly the same shot.

It looks a good spot, gonna have to try and find it. There is another spot in Copmanthorpe but it's really overgrown.

Great photos and welcolme to the forum. Is it easy to take photos (are locos close together and have most got steps round them). Just wanted to know in advance for tommorow (as apparently at Railfest 2004 all the modern stuff was close together)
Thanks, Sam

It's really easy to take photos there. You can get really close.
It was really cool :)

Well, it's a chance to get close to a selection of mainline traction. An event not to miss
Thanks, Sam

The reason I took it at that angle was becuase there was steps at the other side where people were going in and out of the train.

Sadly, the GBRf/Europorte Class 92, which was one of the main exhibits I wanted to see, was a bit hemmed in by another loco so you could only see 2/3rds of the side, and the other side was restricted by an unattractive fence, so this is the best photo I could muster:

Fortunately, most of the other exhibits are nicely positioned and easy to view.

Hope this helps, have a good time!

As for the 395s - press the Aux on button (it's got a cap on it which can easily be taken off). The Hitachi representative told me that pressing it will turn on the announcements and the toilets on the train as well as a few other nifty features.
I have got a number of photos from RailFest - expect to see them very soon.
