I’m thinking of booking the 12:44 from Prague to Vienna on a Sunday in late December/early January. It looks like it’s a Ceské Drahy RailJet.
Would anyone happen to know which end the locomotive happens to be or usually is? (I appreciate operational constraints may result in it changing)

The loco would currently - with few exceptions- be at the Vienna end (because pushing a train up the Semmering north ramp is not ideal), seen from Prague. However, there are rumours that because of issues with the ETCS version on the DT, from 2025 all RJ on this route will be hauled both ways.

I was on this train on the 6th Oct and it was locomotive leading from Prague.

the one i took on aug 31st at 14:44 was loco rear, and pushed by a CD 380 rather than Taurus as far as Breclav where the loco was swapped
