The completion? -- "the two ends meeting", or whatever?

Yes, the second one's right.

To quote from today's Western Mail (so it must be right!): "Crews at work on the Channel Tunnel met for the first time when French workers drilled a pilot hole through to the British side of a service tunnel."

Well done - it's your sub service tunnel, sir!

Good lord, I can’t believe it’s that long ago. Well done Mr Calthrop.

Thanks, folks; but it was "guessing, not knowledge" on my part; and I haven't got a decent question to pose. Open floor, please.

Just a quick off the top of your heads question then.

The numbers and names (including alternate one) of the first ten BR class 50s when you’ve got a minute. ;)

Hmm. Not too many takers for this then?
I’ll speed up the process here.

50001 Dreadnought
50002 Superb
50003 Temeraire
50004 St Vincent
50005 Collingwood
50006 Neptune
50007 Hercules/SIR EDWARD ELGAR (In capitals on the nameplate)
50008 Thunderer
50009 ?
50010 Monarch

I can still name every one of the class from memory. I don’t know what that says about me though...

I *think* 50 006 was Neptune??

50 007 was Hercules, but spent a good few years as Sir Edward Elgar but i believe it has now regained the proper name in preservation.

Can't fill in the other gaps offhand, I'm afraid.

50 003 was Temeraire (not sure I've spelled it correctly)

I’ve updated it. One to get, Peter’s in the lead with two at the moment.
(I forgot to check if anyone had answered yesterday due to making the most of my time with the kids and playing that game you can play with horse chestnut seeds on string.
Can’t remember what the game’s called now though...)

Ah..... Conkers... must be Conqueror, then.

Open floor. Too late at night for me to think of a question to pose!

It's a little disconcerting. The location looks a little like Basingstoke as well but the bridge in the background gives it away.

Can't think of anything right now so I'll declare an open platform (but watch out for the adults being dubbed as children over there)

The strange thing about that advertising is that they have changed the platform number (I think) as the sign says Platforms 1 to 4, but it said it was on Platform 1 (read the signs in the background near the beginning.

And you're right to do so .... well done, the Director's Chair is yours, sir!!

Thanks EbbwJ. I’m having infuriating phone problems tonight and I’m going to have to say open floor this time.
