Does anyone know of any resources, internet or otherwise, about railway uniforms? Of particular interest is the uniform worn by Midland Mainline train crews. Any advice warmly received.
What people reply might vary according to what you actually want to know. In the absence of knowing that, I would suggest that the most obvious thing to do is to go to your nearest Midland Main Line station, find someone long-serving and ask them!
And do not forget a look for videos filmed at relevant stations, these will probably feature mainly the trains, but often include staff a well.

Thanks STEVIEBOY1. I fully intended to visit the North Yorkshire Moors Railway shop at Grosmont in the fullness of time. Been to Yeovil but I did not realise there was a railway centre in the town. Interesting journey there from Waterloo in a class 159. Seemed to remember that someone had an old London tube carriage in a field.
Thanks for the info, STEVIEBOY1. If I am ever around that neck of the woods, I shall have to pay a visit to this Yeovil Railway Centre. Such a different way of life round there, it is like being in another country.
Was not quite sure if they were still using the 159s. The strange part about the journey is that on the way out of Waterloo, the Express units, not especially noted for their acceleration, seem to travel faster than the suburban electric stock.
Yes it's amazing in a small country like the UK, the different regions are so diferent. I like coming upto the north east and Cumbria for the mountains etc.
The 159s that we have down here on SWT are very good. I enjoy travelling on them and they do go fast.
