Thankerton in the WCML near to Carstairs. You get Anglo Scots and freight mostly. Seen the new 397 on it today.

I like to watch on Railcam, but chat can be offensive at times ; some Admin should know better . Not the place to make religious comments .. thats for elsewhere.

With very limited trains running in UK, granted there could be more freight such as Tesco trains , but less general if factories closed, do we need Webcams taking up valuable streaming space ? Not a high priority of things to watch.

I rather think that the number of people enjoying a view they can't otherwise have as things are at the moment and the bandwidth they are using will pale into insignificance alongside the massive increase in use of entertainment streaming services.

I listened to this the other day. Its a podcast from the BBC, investigating how the current influx of Internet use is affecting the WWWs capacity. They suggest there's a lot of spare capacity across the Web, but there could be strains on the servers of heavily used services (the likes of Netflix, etc.)

I think it very much pales into insignificane when you put it alongside the millions who are binge watching box sets.

How about Virtual Railfan for North American action.

Just stumbled across this when I was searching for the station I visited in Barstow, California. It's just across the border from Nevada when you drive down from Las Vegas and has a stunning station building, freight yard and some kind of museum with static locos on display- was not open at the time I visited. Anyhow, live feed here:

York South cameras on Railcam are being turned off this week. Shame as they were some of the best webcams on the site. Free viewing on Yoo Tube till then.

If you search for La Plata or Galesburg on youtube you can see very long freight trains, and a few long distance passenger trains. ( California Zephyr, Southwest Chief, Illinois Zephyr at Galesburg ).

I presume lot of railway enthusiasts, have purchased property next to railway lines. I usually travel up and down WCML from Manchester and Preston to Euston , have done for over 40 years so I know there are many houses, shops, some new next to the WCML.. Surely there must be more out there willing to host a webcam , at no cost to themselves ? We would like more webcams in Scotland at places like Fort William (hopefully give a boost for future tourists ) and along side ECML in n London and WCML maybe in Rugby area?So if you know of any suitable locations especially near SVR , East Lancs, Bluebell Railway , please let me know here. Every location has to be assessed of course with suitable access. It would be nice to get more once lockdown has ended . Message me here with contact info please.

I cannot access the York station web cam - This live stream recording is not available. Does anyone know if it has it gone for good or just temporarily down?

From my good friends at Railcam ...
We are aware of the loss of York ROC and Doncaster cameras and are endeavouring to identify the faults but this will take time, please be patient. The cameras will return online as soon as possible.
