In recent months, a number of members have queried why people are banned from this forum. People can be banned for a variety of reasons and it is hoped this message will answer some of those queries. If a member receives a certain number of 'infraction' points for their behaviour, this will trigger an automatic temporary ban for a particular period, depending on the number of points they have accrued.
Permanent bans are made for more serious offences or persistant bad behaviour/breaking of the forum rules - such as sending abusive messages to other members. Two recent examples have had a dual reason - firstly, the two people concerned had previously been banned for persistant breaking of the rules, and then re-registered which was also against the rules. (This itself is enough to trigger a ban.) Having set up a new account, they both spammed the forum again. This sort of behaviour is, we are sure most will agree, not acceptable.
We hope that the above will give members a greater understanding of why members are banned. Bans are not handed out without any thought - indeed, much time is spent by the admins and moderators discussing the best form of action for each individual case.
