I paid with vouchers today and was charged the £1 booking fee, so it looks like the loophole has now been closed. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Yes, I used to get RedSpottedHanky e-vouchers via a work scheme (at a 10% discount) - they're now selling off their remaining vouchers as Redspottedhanky aren't releasing any more (and stopped a 1% affiliate cashback incentive a few months back too). After buying one of the remaining £100 vouchers last week I discovered they're definitely charging the £1 fee with e-vouchers as well as on card sales. Once I've used up what I have left I'll be moving on to another site.

I have now officially abandoned RedSpottedHanky and will not be making any more bookings. They're nothing but a less good-looking version of The Train Line now. Shame, really.

... especially now that they have abandoned the excellent Mixing Deck.

Have they? Just this morning I booked a ticket with RSH (using my accumulated fantasy sport competitions points) on their Mixing Deck.

Cookies may have to be cleared/edited so as not to default to 'FaresView'.

See: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1173660&postcount=15

I have used this continuously since 'FaresView' was introduced without problem, and will continue doing so until loyalty points are used up. I'll also continue using it to check fares and times combined as I find it the quickest method of doing so.

Yes, you have to clear your cookies, but that causes problems with cashback deals.

I should have qualified that.

I have £50 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers which I was intending to convert to RSH vouchers, but I think I will now just use them towards other things.

Who are offering cashback on RSH at the moment?

That said, when TopCashBack were offering RSH cashback, my purchases tracked and paid out after click through and then using Mixing Deck.

I don't think you need to have qualified what you said. 'Abandoned' was incorrect. Mixing Deck is still supported by RSH.

Why, they only deduct £1 from the conversion balance, once that is deducted I don't believe there will be any further deductions on your remaining £99

I bet all TOC websites will do this in future.

Wait and see..

Now they want everyone to buy online even giving incentives and discounts so they need less booking offices. When nobody is buying tickets at the booking office any more they can justify closing them and cutting staff, then firstly the discounts & such will end... Then they will all be introducing booking fees !

I must admit I often get AP tickets online (though don't travel that regularly at all really) but any walk up or similar I always use the window and try to convince all friends/family to.

When East Coast Rewards is dead and buried, as looks likely, likely I'll be shifting some of my expenditure back offline to ticket offices and maybe a few guards. I'd have to do so anyway eventually to use up my backlog of RTVs, which I'm currently using (slowly) on Rangers the only ticket where there's never an online reward.

Just a reminder that your balance of LOYALTY POINTS on RedSpottedHanky purchases will be expiring WITHOUT WARNING at close of 31st December and that you need to log-in and redeem them before - eg converting at rate of 1 point = 1p eVoucher.

T&C: "All points and e-vouchers created from loyalty points will be valid for one calendar year from 1st January - 31st December. If you do not collect and redeem your points or e-vouchers by the end of the calendar year they will not be carried forward to the following calendar year."
http://www.redspottedhanky.com/terms-and-conditions/loyalty/

The evouchers created are actually valid to 31/12/2020, but last year I lost 800 points thanks to these draconinan/hidden T&Cs.

If a moderator wants to escalate this reminder/warning, or do a separate posting please do so - don't want others missing out as I did last year.
