Thanks. I'll do some research into this.
If they're keeping sets for Glastonbury, surely this means that we'll be seeing HSTs on the Cotswold Line for a while yet?...

-Peter
Not necessarily as the sets would be maintained at Phillips Marsh still.

I've no idea what Glastonbury is supposed to have to do with the Cotswold Line in the first place but the only HSTs likely to be seen on the Cotswold Line any time soon are on that Sunday duty until March 31 - assuming it remains in the short-term planning rolling stock diagrams until then.

At Shrub Hill I was told by a GWR chap (poss a driver who had just brought it from Paddington) that they are hoping Sunday 31st March will be a HST for the service as far as Foregate Street and they are retaining 6 sets to cover events like Glastonbury etc
Obviously this might change.
Here’s a pic of the rear power car 43088 on IP69 on 10th March heading to Paddington.

I say it's a load of crap anyway, as they'd need permission from the DfT to keep the HSTs, which I doubt has been given!

It still is wibble. No HST sets are being kept for Glastonbury, or any other special event.

The 6 sets refers to the up to 6 GTi slam door sets that will cover for late deliveries of the sliding door GTi sets. Even with the delays at Wabtec, all of these should be gone by mid autumn.

The rate that GWR are having there plug door sets is far much quicker than XC & SR at the moment.

Thanks very much everyone. I'll still keep my eyes out for a HST on the 31st.

New member here - thanks for all the info guys!

Any idea why 1C07 was the HST set (43098/43189 green pair) this morning, instead of 1C08? Luckily I arrived early enough to see it, but had to put up with an IET to Bristol!

Yesterday 1C08 was indeed an HST (green 43041/43091) as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Does anyone know if that change will remain now till Friday? Thanks!

Had a relaxing time on 1C81 1233 from Pad to Rdg. Only just too short of a ride. Lovely and relaxing in 1st class. I shall miss these 125's as an IET is so drab.

Currently travelling on 1B42 from Reading. So relaxing in 1st.
Was told that 1B46 is also HST today! (1445 Paddington to Swansea).

Does anybody know why GWR have ceased the use of window labels at Paddington during the engineering blockade?
The lack of labels did cause some confusion over the diverts last week when some passengers got on at Reading and we're travelling to Axminster. They were told the train did not stop there but it did.

Might have a look at travelling on 1B46 tommorow - fancy an HST to/from Swansea for old times sake!
This could be your last chance!
Who knows with the way GWR keep chopping and changing when the last HST to Swansea will be.
It could be 43172+43165 if your lucky ;)

There is another set out today. Whilst waiting at Reading I was speaking to the TM on the Pnz train that pulled in. He told me that when booking on at 1330 there was a HST on plat 2 at Pad. This is correct as it was working 1G38 13.36 to Cheltenham. Also confirmed by tiger rail as showing 8 coaches. Should work 1U28 19.12 tonight PAD to BRI .
Be interesting at Pad tonight as 1903, 1912 and 1930 might all be HST workings.

The Swansea HST referred to upthread is not booked, and is the result of 2 HSTs in IET diagrams that originate at Bristol due to issue at Stoke Gifford this AM.

Did 1A06 have anything to do with that this morning as it left St Phillips Marsh 71 late.

Join the club! HSTs started it all in 2003 for me in Swansea, so a final run through South Wales would be nice. My official farewell to the class in Wales was all the way back in 2014!

Does anyone know anything about a four car hst at Bristol temple meads on Friday?

Didn’t have plug doors.

Crew training. A number of unmodified short sets will be needed to cover Cardiff - Taunton diagrams from the timetable change until sufficient modified short sets are available.

Without looking too closely into it, would guess so yes, would put it down as all related.

Would that be 1Z40 to Worcester Foregate Street and the return 1Z20? It passed me around Filton Abbey Wood straight after the set going to Cardiff. I don't usually notice any HST's on the way to work, let alone two.
