153 354 & 172 343 were in gharge of the 10.25am stourbridge - dorridge today ,seen just leaving brum behind them , all seems well . but on the return run the 153 was take off at snowhill ?. and 172 343 carried on to stourbridge alone , it then formed the 12.25am stour-b, dorridge return.
not shure were but 172 221 was then added to 172 343 to make up for the missing 153 . last week a 153 was also taken of the dorridge run also paired with a 172 . hopefully there will be another 153 will be back out Tomorrow .:D

153365 out with a 172 this morning on the 06.45 Worcester - Dorridge. Couldn't identify the 172 but I assume it is 219?

Went back to Tyseley I would presume.

153 354 was uncoupled at snowhill when the train arrived from dorridge ,(seen in the photo at snowhill ) then 172 343 went on to stourbridge alone .
153 354 then left fot Tyseley.

then when i saw 172 343 it again at moor st , (comeing back from stourbridge ) it had 172 221 on the back ? so 221 was added at stourbridge or snowhill ??

its not been a good week for the 172 -153 combination 3 failures . 2 this week ! 1 last week . stick the old 153-150 back on :D

Morning

I took a trip up to Birmingham yesterday and observed the following in service:

172211 with 172220
172212
172213 with 172214
172215 with 172217
172216 with 172218
172221 with 172345
172331 in Tyseley
172332
172334
172335 with 153365
172336
172337
172338
172339
172340
172341
172342
172343
172344

172331 was in Tyseley depot (the only set visible there), and so the only ones I did not see were 219, 222 and 333.
These may well have been out, as I missed a few passed when travelling.

Of note, 150105 was sitting in Tyseley adjacent to the main running lines, (I assume this is one of the sets retained for Marston Vale as it had Bletchley on the blind) while an unidentified 150/2 set was sitting to the rear near the old coaches.

172333 failed mid morning with middle engine shutdown & no cab heat on rear vehicle. Driver quite correctly refused to work back from Worcs until train was turned via henwick & shrub hill.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
212 was replacement for 333. 222 not delivered & 219 on exam. Only 2 150/1s on TYS at present with 1 of those going to Worcs 2nite ready for Monday.

Re failure of 333 engine shutdown leaving Dorridge at 08.46 with powerpack fault, snow hill fitter unable to reset. Then heating tripped in rear cab & would not reset. Set turned on arrival st Worcs so that active(warm) cab remained in use. Control requested replacement driver at Worcs as inward driver refusing to drive with no heat, all 4 spare drivers at Worcs also refused to drive with no heat so set turned & original driver worked back as booked. Controllers in nice warm offices seem not to realise just how cold cabs can get even if train is new with no draughts.

Thanks for the gen. I did see 212 crawling ECS near Small Heath at about 10.30 (assumingly off to fill 333's diagram)

This, plus the whereabouts of 222 and 219, and confirms that I saw everything that I could have seen!

BBC manage to exaggerate the whole DMU cascade:

"London Midland replaced 150 of its 25-year-old fleet with 172 new trains, which entered service in the autumn..."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-16130871

Never mind confusing vehicle and unit quantities like we do here regularly... :D

Edit: BBC have fixed this story now, must have been given enough grief last night...

Well the 150 on the Marston Vale failed this morning at Kempston Hardwick, according to my gaurd on the late running 0809 this morning. The 153 was stuck behind the failed 150 for a good 30 minutes.

150109 taken off diagram at 09.37(replaced by a 170) & sent Ecs to Bletchley to replace 105. 107 still awaiting new engine at TYS. not sure what will work Worcs 150 diagram 2moro as all 170 diagrammed in am peak. Worcs was also a 153 short this morning + usual dark side short formations today.

Re 001 & 106 still waiting driver to move them. Booked to be a colas driver I believe obviously employed elsewhere. As units now belong to FGW,LM can't use them unless they pay hire fee.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
The only person that mentioned 170's for Bletchley was Wallace Weatherall but had to backtrack when cost of Crew training & platform lengthening explained to him.

Could it be 2x153s?

Was jealous this morning when the 07:43 to Dorridge arrived at Droitwich Spa boasting six carriages.

Well the 13:46 from Dorridge to Worcester is cancelled. No doubt due to another 172 failing! Will be interesting using a 170; really comfortable ride it will be. Also I take back the fact they can't keep to time as they can. There is a picture of two 170/6 units on the first day of the new diagrams. Scroll to the bottom.

How many carriage are there on the 170 going from Worcester to Dorridge?
