Just surprised why we keep travelling on manual doors which Grand Central passed on after years of launching and northern have had electric for decades so why were the 91’s kept going so long.
The Mark 4s have got power doors. It's the HSTs that have got slam doors, and they'll be gone from LNER within the next 3 weeks

good riddance, if you ride them in the winter it’s really cold during overcrowding if you are stuck near the door.

Another 91 is off to Stirling tonight, this time it's 91113 and it's because of disruption near York.

Edit: Service appears to have terminated at Edinburgh and not continued to Stirling.

How long do 91's stay with LNER after the HST have gone?

In particualr the 18:33 London Kings Cross – Bradford Forster Square on a Friday is my usual train. I hope that stay 91 hauled for a while yet ;)

Is there any update on the need to retain half a dozen sets for future timetable changes? A few months ago the rail magazines were running stories about another top up order for a few new trains, assumed to be 80x in most cases...

Can anyone tell me which 2 are currently parked up (withdrawn?) outside Doncaster Works - one looks like 91125, the other is in worse condition and seems to have the number missing (or hidden)

Thanks

91103 and 91108. The latter has had its nose chopped off.

Yes you possibly have seen 91125 there. It went to Doncaster light engine on 5th December.

Thanks for posting that. :)

looks like the 225s are concentrated on Edinburgh. Interesting some are going back from Azuma’s

No class 90s left sometime ago. That booking engine on LNER not entirely convinced that’s right, be interesting to see as doesn’t fit with diagrams/ECS moves etc..

It may not be 100% accurate but it does give us a rough idea in advance. Diagrams/allocations for the day I am sure can be confirmed on the day in question.

I didn't realise that Class 91s were going to, albeit for a short time, serve Stirling?
They first started serving Stirling a few weeks ago. The down Stirling from Kings Cross will be a 225 for only a couple of weeks before going over to Azuma on 6 Jan. The up one as you quoted has no changeover date yet from what I have seen so will be a 225 for a little while.

Quite a few of the services that should have converted from HST to Azuma operation today have instead been covered by 91s, including 1W22 to Stirling. I believe those services will stay 91 worked for the rest of the week but I'm not 100% certain.

yes i know, about 4 weeks ago i booked Newcastle to York (0559 Azuma from Sunderland 10 car) now not advertised as an Azuma on the website but it still is as i checked the seat plans. Not all sevices are advertised as Azuma when you book but still are if you understand.

There's been a few problems with the booking engine recently. The Azuma logo has been showing next to some services that are 91s, and vice versa. In each case though if you click the info button for that service it'll tell you what's actually booked.

0706 King’s Cross to York is unexpectedly 91116 and a short formed Mk4 set this morning (coach M missing).

A pleasant surprise, I’m sure it was an Azuma when I booked last week. Fingers crossed the 1603 return is still an HST today.

I have an option of a 91 plus Mk4s or an Azuma next week, just a few mins apart. Return trip is a 91, so thinking it’s time I tried an Azuma.... got to be done at some point I guess!

go for the 91. You have 30 years to ride on an Azuma
