As I understand it, the work is due to commence soon, with the former Caledonian Railway Bridge closed for 3 months...

From the planning circular:-

http://www.stirling.gov.uk/__docume...planning-schedules/ps_wk46_11_november_30.pdf

11/00765

Replacement of existing bridge deck with a single span steel girder footbridge and minor re-grading to footway vertical alignment at Bridgend Footbridge Over Railway Line, Caledonian Place, Dunblane for Network Rail Buchanan House 58 Port Dundas Road Glasgow G4 0LQ

Hopefully it'll look just like the old one.

Bridge is now closed as part of the EGIP works:-

2 Apr 2012

Work begins today in Dunblane to replace the pedestrian footbridge adjacent to Caledonian Place in order that essential upgrading work can take place. The work is part of the EGIP project which is a £1bn pound investment in central Scotland’s rail infrastructure. The work is to create ‘bridge clearance’ – raising the height of the bridge relative to the railway in order that electrification cables can be run safely under the structure.

Unfortunately, this involves some over night working which is unavoidable as we strive to balance the needs of line-side neighbours and the continuing operation of the railway.

This bridge will be closed for the duration of the works and a temporary pedestrian diversion will be in place and signed accordingly.

During this activity the footpath will be closed from 02 April to 23 July 2012

Key Dates and Times:-

Set up site compound
Mon 2 Apr to Fri 6 Apr (Day Shift)

Remove existing concrete deck
Mon 10 Apr to Fri 27 Apr (Day Shift)

Saw cutting of existing masonry in preparation for the bridge removal
Sat 28 Apr 2200hrs to Sun 29 Apr 0800hrs (over-night working)

Removal of existing bridge deck and replace with new bridge deck:
Sat 05 May 2200hrs to Mon 07 May 1200hrs (Day and over-night working)
