Renewal of Railcard

My two together railcard is about to expire. I will be renewing it, but probably won’t need it to use for around a month after the current one expires.

Can I renew my existing card a couple of days before I need to use it, or do I have to sign up for a brand new card with new photos etc. because there will be a gap in validity?

You can't renew an expired, but you should be able tp use the same online photos again. If not it's not too hard to upload again.
