It does indeed ;)

More details will be announced within the next few weeks, so watch this space- and this time we hope to get a few more 'Rail UK' passengers on board: the turnout was a bit poor last time from this camp! (But many thanks to those who did support us on here!)

Anyway, keep your suggestions coming in regarding future trips- we have some more ideas in the pipeline for Summer 2009! :)

James.

Considered going to Kent? Even a little circular/figure-of-8 tour would be nice.

Something like a Victoria > Sittingbourne > Ramsgate > Canterbury West > Ashford International (break and r/r) > Dover Priory > Canterbury East > Victoria tour would go down well in my book.

Maybe shove on a nb 37 or two on it too...37676 and 712 will do me <D

Of course, I'd be happy too with getting Maindee Curve done in 2009 (which re-reading the link from the OP you're already doing, so I'm considering popping in for this). But above all else, something going up the Glasgow and So' Western would be nice. Maybe also combining such a tour with a trip round the Cumbrian Coast. Of course, a couple of nb 37s again would be nice.

Wouldn't say no to something decent up to Pwllheli...Have a guess as to what locos I'd suggest...<D

Starting from London isn't really feasible for two reasons, a) We do not have a London / South East mailing list, and b) Tours from the south are notoriously hard to organise, due to the locos and stock providers being located oop' north, therefore 'dead' ecs mileages being prohibitively expensive.

But keep an eye out on South Coast for next year though - originating from the North, ofc ;).

How about 25309 on a jaunt to pastures old, Pwllheili? :) Forget photting, I'd book on that just for Talerddig and Breidden Bank <D

How's about:

Huddersfield - Man Vic - Preston - Cumbrain Coast - Dumfries - Glasgow Central (Break) - WCML - Preston - Man Vic - Huddersfield.

I don't know how long that'd take though.

Might take a wee while. But why start at Huddersfield?

So it can pick up at all the same stops the 'Retro Scot' took. Thus, hopefully, getting all the 'normals' that did that tour to do this. Hope that makes sense!

Another idea:

40145 Huddersfield - Man Vic - Bolton - Blackburn - Hellifield - S&C - Carlisle - Tyne Valley - Newcastle (Break/or stay on for the mini tour) - Sunderland - Hartlepool - Durham - Newcastle (Break) - York - Huddersfield - Man Vic - Bolton.

How about getting your mitts on 50026 and team it up with 50044, before every other tour operator does?

Doncaster - Leeds - Skipton - Keighley - S&C - Carlisle - WCML - Glasgow Central (Break) - Edinburgh - ECML - Newcastle - Tyne Valley - Carlisle (Run round) - S&C - Keighley - Skipton - Leeds - Doncaster.

I'm sure double headed 50's along the S&C and WCML would interest the older folks aswell as it was their stomping grounds prior to movement to the Western Region. As for the crazy return route? I'd like to hear off numerous people who have been across the Tyne Valley behind double headed 50's....

That tour you propose with 40145 sounds hellfire!

Hope it goes well for James and co, would have been there for the original traction choice as I said to him but never been a big fan of grids so think I will have a wonder up to Caley now on that weekend.

The timings could vary so don't book any AP fares around them! Booking a night in 'uddersfield should be a safe bet though. In theory we should get a fast run as 2x56s have plenty of power, but NR may have other ideas and give milkfloat timings, we'll have to wait and see!

Hello Everyone!

Yes, it's a shame our original traction choice couldn't happen, but sadly it was a choice of either cutting the length of the train down (by a considerable amount), and having a single 50, or having a pair of Grids, and keeping the original formation! In the end, the latter won.

Anyway, I think there are plenty of people who seem to like Grids, so I'm hoping we should have a good turnout :)

Also, Ian, I do believe there is a Travelodge in Huddersfield, I know some cranks stayed in it before the Deltic tour last August- not sure exactly where is though!

Finally, if anybody has any questions, please give me a yell! Now Get Booking ;)

Wahey, we've finally got some timings and details! I've been watching this for a while since it comes down my way and does a little bit of track I really want to do...

56s eh? Should be interesting! I see it says something about the fares being available until 15th March. What happens then?

Part of me wants to be on from Huddersfield for the unusual opportunity to storm along the Pennines, but due to the lack of Hereford to Huddersfield Advance fares I dunno if that's going to be possible. But I do like the idea of joining at Shrewsbury, if nowt else I'll be there.

One thing I would request: Please ask NR for the southbound through road at Hereford!!!
