Am planning a trip to Peterborough on Sunday, however due to a need to get there earlyish, I am starting from Norwich, and then returning to Lowestoft, is there a cheaper way to do it and then return to Lowestoft, other than buying the return from Norwich to Peterborough and a single from Norwich to Lowestoft?

Buy a return from Lowestoft and start 'short' if that is cheaper?

Officially, you should be charged the FULL difference between the two Return fares, or a new Single for the Norwich - Lowestoft leg if cheaper (subject to compliance with Condition 19 of the NRCoC).

In practice, you may be lucky enough to find a member of staff willing to charge HALF the difference (as per the old rules), though this may be ticket machine dependent.

Yorkie's way works out around £2 cheaper.
