I will be getting an off peak return for this Saturday from Rishton to Luton not via London, would a double back from Luton Airport be allowed. The journey planners are showing it but just want to double check.

The Routeing Guide easements include the following:

30255 Customers travelling via Wellingborough to or from Luton may double back via Luton Airport Parkway. This easement applies in both directions

This presumably explains why the journey planners are allowing the double-back.

An alternative way of looking at it is that since the doubleback only occurs in the final, local, part of the journey between destination routeing point (Bedford) and destination (Luton) it is irrelevant: going via Luton Airport Parkway adds less than 3 miles to the shortest route from Bedford to Luton (1mile1chain in each direction), so it's permitted anyway despite the doubleback.
