The Rugby Football League have terminated the league membership of Bradford Bulls, who entered into administration on Monday.

An update to this is that as a result of the appointed adminstrators rejecting a consortium offer for the club at the end of December, Bradford Bulls are now in liquidation.

The club had been in administration three times in the last four years.

That's a shame.
It doesn't seem that long ago that they were winning everything in sight under the guidance of Brian Noble.

With Super League 2017 very much in mind, the St Helens scrum half, Matty Smith, who has moved from Wigan Warriors must have been looking forward to the new season. It was an unkind twist of fate to find that his injury in the pre-season friendly match against Widnes Vikings was a broken leg.

Doing extremely well in last seasons play-offs that saw Leigh enter the Super League, Leigh will find this coming season a different standard than the league they left. Castleford really pressed hard in the first half and were 26-0 up by half time.

Salford Red Devils 24...Warrington Wolves 14

Warrington shaded the first half, going in 12-10 at half time, but Salford were better organised as the game went on and their pressure told in the end. Salford won the try count 4-3.

In past days, Salford could have been on a hiding to nothing against Warrington and this is their first win over them for quite some time. It is amazing to see Warrington still waiting for their first league win this season.

A visit from the unbeaten table-topping Castleford was certainly going to be a severe test of the resolve of Salford, even with home advantage of the A J Bell stadium on an "inclement weather" day and free-flowing high-scoring in these conditions took second place to a war of attrition. Castleford went in 6-4 up at half time and with the second half of the match then even with two converted tries each, Salford won as a result of a well timed drop goal.

Widnes Vikings 10...Salford Red Devils 46

Widnes went into this match with just a solitary league point and it was not hard to understand why, as Salford powered into a 30-0 half time lead, which caused some home supporters to boo off their players. Salford eased off somewhat in the second period but it is noteworthy that all the nine Salford tries were all scored by different players.

Salford now move up to 5th place in the league.

Very close first half with Salford going in 6-0 up at the break and the second half was a more open game. Whilst both teams scored three tries, it was the performance of Michael Dobson of Salford that stood out, scoring two tries and kicking four goals.

Salford are now in fourth place in the league, having won five of their first eight league matches.

Hull FC 18...Salford Red Devils 54

On paper, an away fixture at Hull FC, who had won five of their seven league matches and were higher placed in the league than Salford, looked to be a daunting fixture for Salford, but such was the Salford first half superiority that at the break, they went in leading 34-8. The second half was something of just ensuring no come-back by Hull FC occurred and the fact that Salford outscored them by 10 tries to 3 says much about the course of the match. This was the biggest ever win by Salford in the Super League.

Salford find themselves now in second place in the league.

A typical hard-fought and dour local derby, which saw a half-time score of 6-6 but the more experienced Salford team came more to the fore in the second half and Leigh were less successful with moves. Salford then scored their second try and that was that.

Salford remain in second place.

The Easter Bank Holiday results saw both the first and second teams in the league suffer defeats after a run of wins.

Ladbrokes Challenge Cup - 5th Round

Salford Red Devils 29...Toronto Wolfpack 22

Salford's last match was away against Catalans Dragons, so they were able to greet the new Rugby League side with a base in Canada next...:D

Toronto have added more players to their squad and have performed very well in the league that they were placed, so an away match against Salford was a good test for them. Salford just shaded the first half 18-16 and were only seven points clear at the end, having just outscored Toronto by five tries to four. It did not aid Salford's case by having to play more than half the match with only twelve players, having had one dismissed for dissent.

Wigan Warriors 16...Salford Red Devils 31

On paper, this Friday night match looked to be a close match between two of the top six sides and indeed, a away match that once would have been far different in past years, but Salford put together a co-ordinated team performance of attack and defence in the first half and they led 16-0 at half time. Wigan to their credit also "upped their game" in a more even second half, but Salford were worthy winners and won the try count by five to three.

This is Salford's 9th league win in 13 league matches and this result currently sees them in second place.

A great comeback from Warrington Wolves saw us beat St Helens Saints 40-18, our best performance so far this season in my view.

Super League Magic Weekend

Leigh Centurions 22...Salford Red Devils 36

Glad to see the north-east hosting this weekend's festival. Leigh are still finding the Super League somewhat problematical at times, but credit them for pressing whenever the opportunity arises.

Salford were aware of Leigh's plan for today and defended in depth as well as attacking and were 24-12 up at half time. Leigh came out very determined in the second half, which was far more even. Salford won the try count 6-4 and this result takes them up to second place in the league.

A reversal of the result earlier at the start of this season and Salford once again put a very strong first half performance to lead 28-0 at the break and kept on pressing in the second half and won the try count 9-2.

This was Salford's sixth straight win and keep them in second place.

Warrington Wolves 12...Salford Red Devils 38

Warrington's recent revival after a poor start to the season received a setback as Salford once again put together a dominant first half performance and led 22-6 at the break. Consolidation followed in the second half and Salford won the try count 7-2.

This was Salford's seventh straight win and they retain second place in the league.

Salford Red Devils 24...Wakefield Trinity 34

Wakefield took a leaf out of the Salford style first-half pressing game and deservedly went in leading 16-6 at the break and they held their nerve in a much more even second half to end the recent Salford seven match winning streak. Wakefield won the try count 6-4.

Salford still retain second place in the league, but are now four points adrift of Castleford Tigers.

In this final match before the Super 8s/Qualifiers commence, this win lifted Leigh off the bottom of the table and saw Salford drop down to 4th place in the league.

This is the fifth defeat Salford have suffered in their last six matches.

I think that the appointment as Head Coach of Kieron Cunningham will be one that should assist in their future plans, having reached the top tier last season.

In The Qualifiers, Leigh recorded their first-ever victory over the Catalan Dragons in good fashion, going in 10-0 up at half time and keeping their game-play up in the second half, winning 30-6, outscoring Catalan by five tries to one.

Castleford Tigers v Leeds Rhinos in the Grand final this weekend.

Castleford: First time in their history, never won the league, never appeared in a grand final v Leeds who have won the grand final and the league 10 times. Incredible.

Only one team worth discussion for achievement this year.

Bradford Bulls ladies.

When was the last time any team went a whole season without losing a single game in league or cup competitions?
