Rugby is a decent station. Platform 5/6 is your best bet for freight coming off the Trent Valley. The staff there are very pro-enthusiast and they're used to spotters.

Enjoy.

Times I have been to Rugby, there has quite often been a Class 57 stabled there ready for Thunderbird duties. Not sure if this still happens, but it is good to see if it does.

Yeah, the 57 is there sometimes.
There's usually a 92 in the bay on a daily basis being stored for Daventry.

If you take photos, it is all too easy be in the wrong spot when a freight passes Rugby. If you are just observing - it is a great location.

Same warning applies to most busy freight hotspots, such as Nuneaton,
Willesden, Didcot, Doncaster and famously Tamworth!
