A quick question Boys and Girls, have London Underground tried using the 'S' Stock on any of the other Sub-Surface line apart from Metropolitan Line?

I remember watching a video on Youtube of announcements of the Hammersmith & City line being played on an In-Service Met Train along the Northern Half of the Circle Line but cant seem to find this video anymore?

I am correct, I aslo remember reading in one of the Railway Magazines (I think Heritage Railway) when the Beattie Tank did a Steam Test to Baker Street that 'S' stocks ran past the Beattie to Edgware Road, to test the steam affects on the new train.

Is anyone aware of a 'S' Stock Venturing upto Barking, Along the southern part of the Circle, towards Hammersmith or travelling the District line.

As I understand Boris Johnston wants All the A stock gone before the Olympics and the C/D stock gone by the end of 2015?

Please correct if any info is wrong, Apologies in advance is previously mentioned in another thread.

An S stock unit has worked down to Hammersmith (a photo was in a issue of The Railway Magzine back in March/April) and I think one has been all the way to Barking

Certainly Barking and Upney.
1 was working last Sunday, West Brompton to Putney Bridge.
They have traversed the south side of the Circle.
They have and are still going to Acton Town.

Set 21045/21046, which was at Hammersmith, was back at Neasden this morning. Presume that it's been replaced by the 'proper' S7?

I presume so. A 'proper' S7 was in Wembley Park sidings testing it for length - I believe another stabling space (Hammersmith?) will be lost due to lengthening for S stock, so looks like they might be running Circle/H+C line trains up the Met again to Wembley - if not just to stable, plus they will all look the same anyway ;)

Differing lengths notwithstanding.

Will all the S7 actually be interchanged, or will there be separate pools for the District and the Hammercircle, mirroring the situation today?

(I could imagine a unit working from Tower Hill to Wimbledon, then up to Edgware Road, then all the way round the Circle to Hammersmith, then over to Barking...)

Well LUL have recently split the H+C and Circle diagrams for S7 running - that is, if it goes out in the morning as an H+C train it will keep on running as an H+C... there are loads of possibilties flying around for the timetable after the S7s are fully introduced... however this is far away yet, and changes can happen even if there is an 'official' answer already! :P

If the full S7 fleet is kept as a single pool, I dread to think what the "Line" diagrams in the carriages will look like- probably something similar to the unwieldy common-diagram the Overground 378s use (where the DC-only ELL pool show the full details of the entire system including GOBLIN!)

Have you seen the "line diagrams" in Southern's 377s? :P

Don't think I have- but is't it more a "network map?" I mean this sort of thing

this is the Overground one

The C Stock currently has the Circle, H&C and the little bit of the District that they operate (Wimbleware). The D-Stock has the parts of District that they run (so not Edgeware Road).

Now we have the answer!! The S7s have 2 maps!

One covering the Circle and Hammersmith & City:

The other the District only:

seems fairly sane! More reliable than a possible other idea- screens, showing just the line (or service, in the case of the District?) the train is currently operating on.

I have never seen any S Stocks other than on the Metropolitan. I know it was meant to be on the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines by the end of this year. Have they started doing that now? I'll keep an eye out, i really love the S Stock for some reason. So much i refused to get on a met A Stock the other day. Sad i know :P
