When train spotting today, I saw something odd. There was a 387, a 170, and two 700s all in the same livery. The livery was red with grey doors and yellow fronts. Like the Gatwick express livery without the letters. There was no branding on the side and the trains were fitted out with new lights, new seats and were perfectly clean. Could this be GBR starting to repaint their trains?

No, we're a long way off any reveal of a GBR livery. If they've even designed one yet.

The red 387s are Gatwick Express livery.

The livery you describe is carried by a few 387s that are currently running the Great Northern routes. It is exactly as you describe it, Gatwick Express livery without the letters. The 387s are the only stock with this livery, and that will stay the case. There are no 170s or 700s in this livery nor will there ever be.

You probably saw a Gatwick Express 387 and a Class 707. GBR currently doesn't even exist, so don't expect corporate branding for years.
