Looking somewhat into the future, does anyone have an idea of how long it will take to get the 17 ‘fifth coach’ Mk3’s once the last 4-coach set is delivered? I assume the TS coaches are the ‘easiest’ to refurb (no buffet, accesible toilet etc)?
That's my platform 5 book out of date then! The sets are being renumbered from today to match the numbers of the 40xxx vehicles. So 40626 is now HA26 etc.
Right, thanks for clarification. It was always the plan but Wabtec delivered the vehicles in the wrong order apparently and the numbering of the classic sets clashed. Now they've gone the refurbs have gained their correct numbers.
My P5 book's out of date now too! Is it the case that only the set numbers are changing (with the consist staying as-is)?The sets are being renumbered from today to match the numbers of the 40xxx vehicles. So 40626 is now HA26 etc.
HA06 (old HA23) should be HA05 as 41094 was renumbered 40605.If that is indeed the case, this is how the set numbers appear to have changed.

Absolutely. As far as things returning to "normality" by this summer is concerned, I suspect the number of HSTs available is pretty far down the list of things that will determine whether that is in any way likely to occur.
Anyone have the formation of yesterday’s move?
Don't know about power cars, but I believe the trailers would be:
40622 42007 42145 42564
43030 and 43144
the future replacements of HSTs may allow a return to multiple unit operation, and will also need to have a significantly lowered (or zero) carbon impact.
Doing a little digging around for tit-bit info and found two small things.
1) Wabtec Doncaster still working
2) Kilmarnock were to do up to 26 mk3 coaches, starting a year ago.
That number suggests this is where the 5th coach for each set was coming from? Difficult to get timelines right but after there was a pause in production after set 3/4 (I think) then the Kilmarnock work was announced and we did rumour that Scotrail committed to 5 for all sets.
Not sure where that leaves things because that works is closing. However, it could suggest that it will close once this work is complete. Anyone know if anything has been complete from Kilmarnock?
PL is apparently 'Exclusion agreed between Network Rail and Train Operator'It's been cancelled due to an excluded reason (PL). Never seen that before. Anyone able to explain?
