I was scheduled in on the 3rd, but I've just passed the tests with my DRS application, so fingers crossed that gets me through to the final hurdle.

Journeyman - have you told FSR HR this? Maybe if they check up that you have passed the assessments they might not fancy your application anymore when they see you are at an advanced stage of employment with another company

correct me if i am wrong however i dont think this will matter as i dont think it would show up in any information as he is not actually in the books so to speak yet with DRS he has just passed his assessments.

also the fact it has possibly taking him so long to hear back from 1 TOC there is nothing stopping him applying for another TOC while waiting.

i may be wrong just my thoughts though

Speak to HR and advise that you have passed the assessments with DRS they may ask you to do Scotrail specific ones but if I were you I would be on the blower to them straight away.

As others have said there is no harm in contacting HR though see what they say.

I've already done it. I told them I passed them and could they please confirm what will happen next - they're going to get back to me. They didn't seem too concerned, obviously if I don't get the DRS one I'm still going to be very keen on going for this.

Hi guys, I have been looking in the Scotrail/first website for trainee driver positions and never seen these posts! Is there a specific link for these positions?
Thanks for any help and the very best of luck with the interviews!

They were online for only 2 days in March. You need to sign up for job alerts or you are likely to kiss them.

I heard back from them yesterday. They're happy with my passes and are bumping me up to the next stage...I'll hear from them in due course. :)

When I did it the MMI was the last part of stage 2, after all the computer-based tests. PM me if you want any more info.

Cheers for that, from all the info on this site I was sure the MMI would be stage 2 and not next week unless first scotrail are doing it differently this time..

Gav you will be doing stages 1 & 2 at the assessment centre next week. Did you receive 2 different attached files of practice material from First's email? It tells you everything you need to know in there. If your successful with all the written & computerised tests on the day then you will have a SJE followed by a MMI interview to finish with. If everything goes well then you will be back in for a DM interview at a later date followed by a medical then probably a job offer....

All the different stages of the process were listed on the original job advertisment
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Phase 1

Online pre-screen questions and online application form
Situational judgement test
Data verification test
Telephone interview

Phase 2

Psychometric assessments stage 1
Psychometric assessments stage 2

Phase 3

Interview with driver management team

Would be great if it's all done next tues, however are you not booked in for the afternoon on the 3rd? Doesn't give you much time to complete everything on that date.. I think they will put stages 1 and 2 of phase 2 on separate dates. Might well be wrong. Hope I am because happy to just get on with it on same day..

Think your right Gav, sorry my mistake, the email does say its only the GBT, TEA-OCC & TRP parts 1 & 2 that we will do but we are at the Assessment centre for 3 hours - didn't think all these tests would take that long...

Nae probs mate, I'm just going to concentrate on the first 4 tests which will be hard enough, and worry about stage 2 if I am lucky enough to get through to that. 3 hours is prob about right for introductions and explaining tests, doing tests, wee break in between, cpl practise efforts etc

Good luck for everyone sitting these tests next week

I was wondering how they would have squeezed it all in. The second attachments obviously for stage 2 if you get that far.
Do you's reckon that the computerised tests will be on an other day?

Assuming my experience with DRS is anything to go by, yeah, you do the first set on one day, and if you pass those you go on to the computerised ones. These require some specialised kit so you go elsewhere for them. I did my stage 1 all on paper in a hotel in Carlisle. Stage 2 was at the OPC offices in Watford. Thankfully DRS paid for travel and accommodation, which was good, 'cos it cost me 200 quid!

You did alright there then m8 with DRS paying for your stay over, I went upto Doncaster for my assessment day with DB Schenker and paid my own, not complaining though, as hopefully money well spent, as passed and hD my DM last Tuesday just waiting now fingers crossed and good luck to you with DRS

Sat my stage 1 this afternoon, thought it went well, i found the GLOP TRP part one the most challenging - mainly due to the fact that folk started to scribble down notes as soon as the assessor played the audio cd, causing a bit of a distraction - even though you get 5mins to make notes after the audio cd. After using the computerised GB tool on here to practice I found the pencil & paper test much easier....

Found the yellow pages high tones low tones test to be straightforward enough plus I got 31 out of 43 on the cables & dials......

HR woman said they are starting first set of trainee's next week plus looking to start another group at end of July - obviously first batch have been cream of the crop up till the telephone interview stage.....

A few of Strathclyde's finest in amongst todays wannabe candidates plus a couple of others wearing jeans/polo shirt/unshaven - dont know if FSR take this into consideration???

Good luck to the folk in this Thursday :)

I sat mine this morning, not too confident i think i properly messed up the dials, not the answers but got just before halfway and didnt realise i had missed a box so had to start again, gb i thought was easier on computer than in paper as you can look ahead without your hand in the way. She was saying 32 candidates going through including internal, so i don't hold much hope about getting the next to stage. Anyways good for the experience, Good luck to all, Great opportunity if you get through

Sat mine this morning. Wait and see time. I found the dials by far the hardest, quickest 8 mins ever. Only got halfway so don't fancy my chances. Good experience though. Good luck to everyone

Mate I wouldnt worry too much about the dials, nobody finishes the test, think they look for a basic understanding that you understand it.......as long as u get all the ones correct that u did answer....

I know a newly qualified trainee driver who scored 16/45 when he done that test 2 years ago........

I didn't find it over all as difficult as I had thought but, the like you said Jydo I didn't take notes as I thought you had to wait until after the tape had stopped.
The dials weren't too bad, got about 30 odd finished.

Does anyone know if there 32 positions are for both Glasgow and Edinburgh or 32 in each location?

The assessor stated before the tape test that you can take notes during the tape being played and will have a further 5 mins after the tape had finished to finish your notes and read the document again (if needed) hope you all get a positive outcome of the exercises taken today, maybe one day we will be colleagues!

Everyone absorbs information differently depending how good/bad your memory is. Listening to the audio passage with your eyes closed, then reading the passage again then starting to make notes & skimming thru the passage again is the ideal way I'd do it but like I said everyone is different.....

Just as the assessor was counting down to start the GB dots test the poor guy next to me accidentally kicked his own table and all the pens & pencil's fell off the table then she said "go" lol, he was scrambling on the floor trying to get a pencil.............don't think anyone else noticed

Up the very back, no one really spoke much due to the nerves I think......those 2 HR employee's were fantastic with us all, quite down to earth, think they took the tension out the air......

Whereabouts were u sitting? Usually Im quite chatty with everyone
