That’s not always the case. Class 170s have turned up on the E-G in the past when the timing load was Class 385 EMU and vice versa.

Hence why I said 'fairly sure' rather than certain. I suspect though that the Class 385 timing load is deliberately slowed to make it closer to the Sprinter/Class 170 load - or else there would be junction conflicts.

Funnily enough, rumor is that it's being electrified and will get an improved service. :)

On the contrary I could put in a VSTP schedule for an Aberdeen to Kings Cross service actuslly planned to be operated by an HST (125mph) but set the timing load to a rail grinder working in traffic (3mph) and it would show up as the latter on Realtimetrains. Or vice versa! Isle of Wight class 483 from Thurso to Penzance? No problem, you can put in just about anything you want and adjust the times accordingly. Garbage in, garbage out.

Well, yes. VSTP schedules are a different kettle of fish.

Whatever. It’s clear you don’t understand what you’re talking about.

Is the electric service on SDA still due for December 9th?

Just to follow up on the Grangemouth bit - I was driving underneath the branch on the way down past the fire station at the weekend and noticed a few of the OHLE arms etc on the docks side of the bridge are still folded back parallel with the track.

Looking the other direction, towards Grahamston, there looks like a portal gantry on that side of the bridge with the OHLE terminating there, so I'm guessing that this is the end of the live section, although I could be wrong.

Are we guarantee that we will see the 365s and 385s run to Stirling, dunblane and alloa in passenger service this sunday onwards?

I think this will depend on whether or not the ORR has signed the wires off for public use.

I'd imagine they haven't yet, or it would have been announced on twitter somewhere?

There have been serious issues with pantograph wear on the E & G in the last few days - indeed this was the cause of last night's failure at Croy. A number of 365s and 385s are out of traffic with damaged carbon. Suspect an OHL issue, lots of checking going on now.

Is this OHL issue the cause of this evening's disruption? (https://twitter.com/ScotRail/status/1070717904776294401) "We have train which has developed a fault between #FalkirkHigh and Croy station. The driver is seeking technical advice and we will feed back when we have further information."

Seems like the electric trains are getting pulled off tonight and replaced by diesels

Do any of the E&G fleet, other than the first 380 north of Larbert, have video monitoring of their pans?

Someone will have a lot of video to watch. Hopefully they have some sort of computer vision that will be able to do a lot of the analysis for them, both now & going forward

Looks like another problem with the "electricity supply" today on the E-G route. Lots of cancellations and short forming with - presumably - diesels being used... doesn't auger well for the new timetable commencing Sunday and into next week... Does anyone know what the actual problem is?

Sounds like the problem might be a bit of dodgy OLE geometry in the Croy area from reports I've heard.

There was a similar issue with the GWEP at Hayes & Harlington which saw a lot of 387s OOS with damaged pans, and a restriction of "Turbos only" on the shuttle service from Paddington. MENTOR was drafted in, the fault was identified and repaired, everything soon went back to normal.
Hopefully it shouldn't be too different up in Scotland.

Today’s issue was an unrelated overhead line trip at Edinburgh Waverley caused by a pigeon.

Tonight’s 23:17 Queen Street to Alloa was formed of 365521, marking what I think is the first passenger electric service to Stirling and beyond. Good to see that the hard work over the past few years is finally starting to pay off!

I think it might have been beaten by the 23:03 Edinburgh-Stirling; at least, I'm assuming that's the service pictured in the following Tweet given the time it was posted:

In that case I'll just claim it's the first electric passenger service to Alloa! :D

There's a 4 car 385 going up and down the line between Alloa and Glasgow today.
