i would've thought it made more economic sense to give free transport to attend interviews or training and remove any financial restrictions that would make it unaffordable to get to these places.

and how come the english and welsh have to wait six months to get the same benefit.

England no longer has such a scheme, there used to be under the previous government but there isn't now except where local authorities grant exceptions.
I didn't think welfare was devolved but obviously they must be, or local authorities can give benefits above the minimum.
Free travel to interviews and training is a good idea but it would be tough to show it was being used legitimately as I know from experience many interviews are short notice
