From this week, Northern will be trialling season e-tickets between Leeds and Harrogate (including intermediate stations).

They will take the form of an aztec code, similar to an existing single/return e-ticket. The ticket can be added to apple wallet etc and a PDF version will be provided. A photocard will be needed with the ticket.

These seasons will have exactly the same conditions as a standard season ticket (break of journey allowed, all operators included etc). Initially the only periods available for fulfilment via this method will be weekly and annual seasons.

Are any other TOCs already selling this type of season?

Will they work on LNER?
Obviously as we have had season eTickets for a couple of years now

The gates at Harrogate can't even cope with a ticket that doesn't say 'Harrogate' on it (e.g. Starbeck) so I wish them all the luck in the world with this new ticket trial :D

EMR have had them for a while too, they come with a blue instead of white background to the ticket generally.

Just purchased a weekly Hornbeam Park to Harrogate for next week to test it out and added it to Apple wallet. What could possibly go wrong.

I hope this trial works.
