Hi all you knowledgeable folk. I've been asked to investigate the best (by which I think they mean cheapest!) way to commute from Lichfield to Bristol, around three times a week. Open to pretty much all suggestions. It's a student, their accommodation fell through, so term-time only commute.

A seven day season, route "Not London" between Lichfield Trent Valley and Bristol Temple Meads, would be £180.00 per week.

Must be better value out there than that?

Whilst they don't have a railcard, they could get an appropriate age one if that helps at all

Splitting at Worcestershire Parkway works better for day tickets with a railcard.
£12 Lichfield-WOP, £10 WOP-Bristol after 0830 (works out to an earliest arrival of 1030 at Temple Meads) (£21.30 before 0830).
Works out at £110 or £166.50 per week

The trains would have to call at WOP, which adds half an hour to the journey.
However, at 3 days a week it's £66 (after 0930 from WOP on a YP)/99.90.

There is a Flexi season LIC-WOP at approx £15.30/day, so £76/110, which would allow use of the faster trains (there isn't a throughout one, and the WOP-BRI is £29.30, so split seasons aren't worth it).
