Several modernish DMUs have visited the West Somerset Railway, one of them just last week.
It was a GWR unit, and AFAIK was driven by a GWR driver with a WSR driver conducting. Numerous return trips made between Taunton and Bishops Lydeard.
Similar arrangements have been made in the past.

An HST was stored on the WSR a few years ago, and ran in passenger service on the WSR during the diesel gala.
Until recently both FGW and XC were involved in running shuttle services between Taunton and Bishops Lydeard in connection with WSR gala events. These days WSR run their own services to Norton Fitzwarren.

For the person who asked about the crewing arrangements it depends but generally the TOC will provide a crew to operate the train and the heritage railway will provide a crew to conduct on the route and local rules.

The exception being if the TOC happens to have crew who also volunteer on the railway (these things are often manned by staff enthusiasts!) in which case they might be rostered intentionally - an example being recent visits to the GCRN by EMT units, the guard provided being a senior conductor who signs 15x and HSTs but also volunteers as a guard at the GCRN so signs the route and rules.

Definitely counts! It had an incident with a cow, the train won! (Apart from needing to be skated back to the loops to access the DFR to go away by road but that's a minor point :) )

That was it! I did get a picture whilst on a passing DFR service but I never got round to finding out what the incident was! Thanks.
