I thought of Bramley which like Worcester has given its name to a variety of apple, but there turn out to be several Bramleys. And it turns out that none of them had anything to do with it because the first Bramley apple tree was grown by Mary Anne Brailsford in Southwell, Notts.

Philip Larkin used to spend holiday time at Haydon Bridge. He was born in Coventry but died at Hull and is buried in Cottingham.

Cottingham is one of the villages claiming to be the largest village in England. However, this title is disputed as there is no standard definition of a village as distinct from a town and 'largest' can refer to population or area. A typical contender is Lancing in West Sussex with a population of around 19,000.

The oldest bridge over the Tay in Perth is called "Smeaton's Bridge" after its designer Joseph Smeaton, a successful and very influential 18th century civil engineer. He designed many other structures, most famously the third Eddystone lighthouse, but also Smeaton's Pier in St Ives, Cornwall.
