The former Glamorgan cricketer Malcolm Nash (1945 – 2019), who was famous for bowling to Gary Sobers when he hit six sixes in one over, was born in Abergavenny. This famous over happened on 31st August 1968 at the St Helen's Ground, Swansea.

Appropriately enough, as without cricket balls there wouldn't be a test on.

Barham Court in Teston was home to Randall Fitzurse, one of the assassins of Thomas Becket. Another, Hugh de Morville, held the castle at Knaresborough.
