Hythe was the home of the Mackeson Brewery, which after changes of ownership, closed in 1968. It was the birthplace of Mackeson Stout, which was first brewed in 1909. It is no longer brewed locally but is now produced under contract by Hydes at their brewery in Salford.

In his Journal in 1755, John Wesley (who was born in 1703 in Epworth, Lincolnshire) wrote that he thought that Liverpool was "One of the neatest, best towns I have seen in England".

The Heligan Estate is located at the eastern edge of the parish of St Ewe, overlooking the small port of Mevagissey. The long-term home of the Tremayne family, the estate is now best known as the location of the Lost Gardens of Heligan, a recently restored Victorian garden.

German Street, Ancoats, was renamed Radium Street to satisfy anti-German sentiment during WWI. Another street sharing the name of a chemical element is Mercury Avenue in Wokingham, Berkshire.

The national primary road N17 begins at the Kilmore Roundabout in Tuam, and ends where it meets the N4 Sligo-Dublin road at the Toberbride roundabout. Whilst still in County Galway, it passes through the village of Miltown, where it passes over the River Clare.

Redbrook is in Gloucestershire, and adjoins the border with Monmouthshire in Wales. Two local pubs, the Bell Inn on the English side at Redbrook, and the Boat Inn at Penallt on the Welsh side of the River Wye, serve locals and visitors well.

The quiet south-facing graveyard of St Cadoc's Church, Llangattock-Vibon-Avel contains five memorial tombs to members of the Rolls family, including Charles Stewart Rolls (1877 – 1910) who, with Henry Royce , co-founded the Rolls-Royce car manufacturing firm. He was the first Briton to be killed in an aeronautical accident with a powered aircraft, when the tail of his Wright Flyer broke off during a flying display at Southbourne, a suburb of Bournemouth in Dorset.
