Another year, another thread.
Get ticking off those stations!
I guess these might count:
1st Jan -
Birmingham International AirRail
Birmingham Airport AirRail
(I had time to waste at Birmingham International before a voyager towards Coventry so decided to take a little ride)
Is that the same route as the old MAGLEV from the 1980s
I believe so, now a cable car system
Milton Keynes Central
My first trip out of 2019. I visited these shacks with my friend and colleague from my FGW days Banjo125. Nice to see you again mate.
Just one more shack to go to clear the Glasgow Roundabout ticket area.
Ingrow West (KWVR)
Brownhills West (Chasewater Railway)
Norton Lakeside (Chasewater Railway)
Chasewater Heaths (Chasewater Railway)
Chasetown (Chasewater Railway)
Overton for Ferry Meadows (NVR)
Orton Mere (NVR)
Peterborough Nene Valley (NVR)
Freiburg im Breisgau
Büren an der Aarau
Warrington Bank Quay
Frankfurt am Main Flughafen Fernbahnhof
The Glasgow Roundabout ticket area is now complete
All shacks done from Glasgow Central to Ayr.
Have been to the station before but only by car, which doesn't count of course!
How did you find those little shacks? Lochluichart is one of my go-to places to sleep if it's too wet for my tent and I'm too tight to shell out for a b&b!
3 and a half hours in -4°C was quite long enough for me!
I'm not brave enough to try the Highlands in the Winter! Why did you go to those shacks at this time of year???
For a feeling of proper remoteness. One can't live in Scotland and not experience winter in the Highlands.
Liège St Lambert
Stations revisited January 2019
The two on the Nottingham - Grantham were a change in plan move as my main aim for today was platform 2 at Doncaster but that has a 'unit' parked in there.
In a similar area to Kite I kicked off 2019 with the following:-
Last two used 156403 and 153326, possibly sat in the same seat a couple of hours after the grand master of station clearance !
Silkstone Common (Nice village shop up the road past pub )
Slaithwaite (pronounced Slough-Wit?)
Batley (aka Hollywood)
Streethouse (nice little café not far from station...good grub!)
One station left on the Penistone line (Shepley), on purpose to give me reason to revisit this beautiful part of the country.
