Hi, looking to travel to St.Ives on the 2nd Aug. for two adults ( no railcards ), what would be the best split regarding cost or would it be worth doing Sheff - St Pancras, Paddington - St Erth ( St Ives ) ?? No idea if this would be cheaper. No time constraints either. Many thanks in advance

Andy

If price is your main objective, you may be interested in this combination from London:
11.06 London Paddington – 14.36 Plymouth 2x £13 Advance
15.12 Plymouth – 17.00 St Erth – 17.17 St Erth – 17.30 St Ives 2 x £7 Advance
16.21 Plymouth – 18.21 St Erth – 18.48 St Erth – 19.03 St Ives 2 x £4 Advance
If there is a (probably quite expensive) Megatrain ticket which gets you to London in time for the 11.06 this may be quite good value. Otherwise someone else might be able to suggest something cheap than a £30.70 EC Advance booked on the EC site.
There is a £40 Sheffield - Plymouth Advance on the 09:54 Cross Country which arrives at 14.48.
You could also save about £7.50 each by splitting Advances at Birmingham and Bristol, leaving Sheffield an hour or so earlier and catching slow FGW trains from Bristol to Taunton (change) and Plymouth.

Many thanks for your reply's. Will probably plump for the 09.54 taking it to Plymouth, can anyone clarify that this is a c/c HST, if so it would make the journey more bearable.

Bus from the Airport is a Western Greyhound 556 to Newquay and a similar 547 to St Ives - travel time will be at least 2 1/2 hours.
The last 547 leaves Newquay at 16:30.

And also the OP has stated he does not wish to travel via other alternative transport.
