I was recently able to acquire a pair of excellent condition ground mounted Shunt Stem Signals that were decommissioned from the small rail yard at Dover Western Docks. Would anyone on here have any idea of they have a value ? Many thanks in advance

No idea of value, but both appear to be LED-fitted, so are of relatively recent vintage. Without the third horizontal aspect, strictly speaking I think these are more correctly called 'subsidiary' signals and would have been used with a main aspect signal to allow shunt moves. The LED modules need around 100 volts AC to operate them if you want to try them out.

Thank you John for the info I was told by the engineer that was plonking them into a van that they were 110v and working ?? But who knows lol he told me that they were shunt stem signals lol I’ll change my discription. I was lucky enough to get these and another pair that I’m going to use at home in the shed I just thought they looked cool I’ll replace the existing lamps with some colour changing bulbs or something. Again thanks for the info

Never heard the term "Stem" in this context, but perhaps it's local jargon for a signal attached to the "stem" of a larger signal, which these would have been as mentioned above. Shunt signals seem to have attracted a lot of localised nicknames - dollies and dummies spring to mind.

Tommy Dodds as well, I've heard.
