Hi all,

I thought I would exercise your knowledge with these photos. Do you know which box is depicted in the photo or otherwise where the photo was taken? The photos are all from my own collection.

Photo 1: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14103794@N04/6680102113
Photo 2: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14103794@N04/6098617546
Photo 3: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14103794@N04/6098619568
Photo 4: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14103794@N04/6125063797
Photo 5: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14103794@N04/6680217989

If you solve those I will add a few more. Also, please ignore the other photos in the 'Box Quiz' set for now as these will be used sooner or later by me in this thread. Enjoy!

Sutton Bridge Junction is correct. The first correct guess was from 33056 so next photo from you please, 33056.

OK, here is one that is readily to hand, will probably have to gas the scanner up for any others without any obvious i/d.

OK seeing as Schnellzug hasnt got a photo to spare then I will provide one of mine. Guesses welcome on the location of this photo: the signal shown is no longer in existence.

I don't know the exact date of the photo, which was provided by a person with whom I have long since lost contact. However he didn't mind me having the photo and said I could use it how I liked.

Having given you guys several days on this:

And there having been no correct guesses, I will confirm that the location of that banner repeater was Kennett in East Anglia. That signal is gone AFAIK after the resignalling back in November 2011 but it may have been replaced by something more modern.

Banner repeaters in that style are, as far as I knew, rather rare: that was the first time I ever saw one. When I drove past Kennett back on 09-July-2011 I saw the back of it from the overbridge but didn't go get a photo as that would have been trespass. I admit that the temptation to go for a look was there once I studied the TT and realised there wouldn't be a train for at least 10 minutes in either direction which would have given time for a photo had I chosen to do one. Not sure how I resisted the temptation but I always aim to do photos without trespassing. That settled it.

Anyway, here are three more from me. May be rather obvious but still......

Enjoy!

NSEFAN & Marky7890: both correct.

Regarding Wokingham, I was interested to see that mechanics have survived there to some extent. I managed to grab a quick word with the signalman who said that the frame at Wokingham has 40 levers of which only 15 are in use.

Another one from me. I took this today. Sunshine contrasts nicely with dark skies as the road traffic awaits the passage of a train which rounded the distant corner just seconds after this photo was taken. But where?

Back to the comp; this photo dates from 1988 though the box is still there.

I would, at a guess, say the picture above is at Bo Peep Junction?

Meanwhile, here's another photo from my archives. I have made a minor edit to the picture in the hope that it will not make the box so easy to identify. Knowing you lot out there though I suspect it won't be too long before someone identifies the location of this handsome structure. However I am determined to thwart you all one of these days......

I've kept out of it as I've no decent photo to share - but 33056's previous photo is Manton Junction. Definitely a Midland box!

I've still got nothing, I'm afraid - will try and find something for the future though!
