Good evening, Folks!
Anyone else down for the above course?
Anyone else down for the above course?
Do they do signalling school in York? I thought it was just leeds and Watford? Or is it to work in York? Which box?
My husband's applied for one near York.
The Leeds courses have all moved to York now and training is conducted within the ROC. As for Watford again I believe this has transferred to but not entirely sure where to being a Northerner ...
Thats good news! It means if he gets through he won't be too far from us. I know it's residential but I'm hoping that doesn't mean we wouldn't see him for 9 weeks. Though getting a bit ahead of myself.
Does anybody know whether NWR will have signalling courses conducted at Basingstoke, what with there being a ROC there now? I thought it all used to be done at one location?
You get to go home every weekend with your travel paid for. Most people travel back to York on Sunday evenings but lessons start at 10am on Monday so you can travel up Monday morning if you live closer. I think if you are close enough you can travel in everyday.
Thats really good news!!
Do you know how often they do training courses? And if you can't do the first block of 9 weeks if they offer you the next course?

What time do they finish on a Friday? I live near Inverness - really looking forward to it too. I'm planning on only going home every fortnight due to quiet revision time, distance & cost.
Regards
If it's going to cost Network Rail more for travel to Inverness and back over a weekend than it would for them to pay for an extra couple of nights' hotel accommodation though, they might be willing to come to some sort of agreement. It's certainly well worth asking the question of the LOM.Usually finish about lunch time on Friday but this can depend on assessments. You don't need to worry about cost of travel as its all paid for. The hotel is booked for you Sunday night to Friday morning, so if you did choose to stay over the weekend you'd have to arrange your own accommodation at your own cost.
Charl1e2 which box has your husband applied for?

To you lucky folks going to signalling school: good luck and enjoy it! I almost wish I could go back. Don't underestimate the exams but remember to socialise/eat together as a group in the evenings - we had some quite in depth rules discussion some nights...
Oh and make the most of the free lunches/dinners whilst you can
